Knaak was 102. Cam was Nada. Rankings usually mean squat in baseball

Charlie, what are your thoughts on the lineup top to bottom?
The core seems to be Cam and Bissetta
I'd like to see Purify, Cuiffo and Chrighton become a bit more dependable at the plate.
I guess Jarrell will catch. His work ethic is very strong, don't know why it isn't coming together for him better. I don't know much about Ty Marshall or anyone else we might have to catch.
Has Hinderleider officially said he is going pro?
Also curious about Nate Hall and Will Taylor for next year.

Sorry, not trying to change the subject, Harland and Moehler both look promising for sure.
Its just until after the draft (July 14-16) who knows....
I am super curious about these guys who could come back since Cuiffo announced he would return. He went through senior day activities with the family on the field etc...and then returned.
So is the same possible for Mathes, Obertop and Hinderleider? The 2024 roster here on Tigernet says they were all redhsirt juniors this past season.

Think Mathes, Obertop, & Hindy all exhausted eligibility (RS & Covid years).

I got a feeling Nate Hall is going to move on. He's been here 2 years I think and hasn't seen any meaningful PT. If EB ends up getting another veteran outfield bat like he did with Mathes, then that would probably be the final straw.
Crighton needs to hit the weight room HARD this offseason and get a little more pop in his bat. He is a pure hitter but a little more pop in his bat wouldn't hurt
Purify is going to be a stud. don't let his struggles down the stretch fool you. My biggest thing with him is his approach at the plate. during his slump he had some downright terrible at bats. But hopefully he has learned a lot this year and it will translate into a good season in 25!
Ciuffo coming back will be huge. losing him at short really threw our lineup in a tailspin that didn't get itself sorted out until late. We had to play a bunch of guys out of position.
I still don't know how comfortable I am with Jarell behind the dish. He let a lot of balls get passed him when he was back there, and sometimes he looked absolutely lost at the plate. When it comes to catcher, Id rather have an elite defensive catcher back there, and whatever he brings to the plate is just added bonus. I wouldn't be upset if EB goes out and gets an experienced catcher in the portal, or if he opens up the competition and lets Prather get a shot.

Prather will get playing time at catcher. He was a really high prospect coming out of high school. He was known as an elite defender behind the dish. If he hits .250 or better that’s a bonus. Having Jarrell and Obertop this year allowed him to rehab and redshirt after his injury.

I think the coaches are going to rely heavily on the development of the position players more than dipping into the portal.

Thanks, Charlie
So it looks like we need at least 3 solid portal guys
It will be interesting to see what comes of the guys Bakich has visiting soon. If anyone knows who they are, please share.
At catcher, I hope we can bring someone in or someone steps up this offseason. I like Jarrell a lot (heck, my uncle is friends with his family) but his bat really cooled off late in the year and his defense is average. I know his injury is a tough one to overcome both mentally and physically. I'm pulling for him.

So I think we just need 2. I listed transfer at 3 spots because of possible personnel rotation. Crighton is versatile so he’s a good piece that allows us to pursue a great outfielder or a first basemen. Then Crighton would play the opposite. Does that make sense?

This website has Harlen as #85 and Moehler at #304, and Talan Bell at #300. If that's accurate Im a little more optimistic that Moehler and Bell will be wearing the Tiger uniform.
Also Will Taylor at #49, Tristan Smith at #147, and Blake Wright at #253. No Austin Gordon.

That's the key every year with us, we can never seem to hang on the our top 1 or 2 commits from going pro. With Smith and Gordon probably one, we def need all the pitching we can get. Harlan would be a nice replacement for Wright as well. Also heard Bakich has a few good transfers coming in to visit this weekend.

It's a totally different time and with NIL in the picture and the 11.7 going bye bye sooner than later I believe getting the top 2 or 3 guys we generally lost to the draft have a much harder time passing getting a degree.
