Sorry I'm late to post this. I was out of town for the past 3 1/2 days and had limited access to the internet.
I agree with all the positive statements on this board about Dr. Stanley. He is in heaven, his influence will live on here on earth.

Enjoyed his sermons over the years. Andy? Not so much.

... Scripture, doctrine and theology.
I'll just put it like this: I would never walk into any event where Andy was a speaker.

We also lost Ron Hamilton, some of you may know him as the creator of "Patch the Pirate" series for kids.

Charles Stanley was my #1 Pastor Mentor. He taught God's word as it was meant to be taught - including the Gospel in every message.

Was a wonderful preacher and teacher. I still listen to him on BBN every chance I get in the mornings while working. Stephen Davey is another preacher/teacher who embodies the role of Pastor. He's on every morning at 8:30 on BBN.

We went to a Tech game and spent the night in ATL. The next morning we went to Stanley's church. A great experience. After the sermon he invited every visitor to meet with him in his office. We did and will never forget meeting him personally. He remained a great preacher right to the end. TOL

My "go to expression."

Most pastors/teachers/speakers have a go-to expression they use. It is a subconscious way the speaker gets non-verbal feedback from his audience. (That's the way it was explained to me.)
Dr. Stanley used "Listen." My favorite college professor, math, used, "Am I making sense to you?"
I developed one through the years of my teaching and didn't even realize I used it (hence, subconscious) until it was pointed out to me. It was, and still is when I am speaking to an audience, "OK?"
What's yours?

He’ll be missed, he kept preaching & trusting God and he was blessed to do so for a long life. His messages where always with the love of an Absolutely Good God, using scripture to confirm that Jesus became our sin even though he never sinned so we could escape the curse caused by Adam, he gave His life that we may have eternal life by making Jesus Lord of our life and avoid death, hell and the grave.
Charles Stanley always brought out how Big & Great our God is by His incredible Love, Grace and Mercy for us & describing His Awesome plan for each one of us Through the loving eyes of Our Perfect Father.
He will be missed but would want us all celebrating his going home party 🎉🎈🎊❤️💯

He had an amazing career and made a big difference in a lot of people's lives. My parents really liked him. His son seems to be doing good work reaching those who were not raised in the church.

His son is a heretic and not worthy of the last name. The samples are easy to find.

Andy Stanley isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and I personally don’t connect with him, but there is no denying that he is reaching a lot of people - including many who might not be reached otherwise.
Are you equally as judgmental of Charles himself, who lied and said that he would resign as pastor if he got divorced? Or the same Charles Stanley who was “married to the ministry” and neglected his family in the process?
This isn’t to discount Dr. Stanley’s many accomplishments. He did much for the kingdom. But it’s hypocritical of you to blast Andy but act like Charles was a saint.

I remember Andy saying that his dad should resign when the divorce happened. Not his call, no matter what was said earlier.

They have a great youth program and my daughter was very involved.
It was actually my daughter who pointed out to me that Andy seems to be more of a motivational speaker who throws a couple bible verses in toward the end of his talks (difficult to really call them sermons).
The churches are welcoming and easy to get comfortable in. They push involvement and honestly, are a good starting point for some.

Andy Compromises The Gospel to the point I don't think he is reaching anybody. He preaches "another gospel".

How does Andy compromise the gospel?

Has he said that Jesus isn’t the son of God?
Has he said that people go to Heaven without Jesus?
Has he taught people to turn away from God?

He possibly saved the SBC from falling into liberalism. All Southern Baptist should be thankful for that accomplishment. Franklin Graham made this point on his remarks regarding the Reverend Charles Stanley.
