Perspective from a UGA Fan

Sep 2, 2014, 6:14 PM

I just got registered here today, and I try to visit opposing team boards both before and after we play them. I think the perspective from other team fans is pretty revealing about your own team when you can remove the bias.

That being said, the posts on these site (at least 15 pages deep) are the scary similar to crap I complain about as a UGA fan year after year.
- we'll always be a 10 win team at best
- Bobo's play calling is predictable, we don't take risk
- Punt coverage is conservative, we don't ever rush the punter
- Why no slants against the rush, why no tight ends involved.

Honestly, I yell and curse these comments routinely throughout the season. But I will tell you that putting Clemson back on our schedule last year was both scary as hell and and exciting. Big games early, although worrisome due to first game jitters, flatness, etc. are what it's all about. There is nothing better in week 1 that going for a win that will mean something. Maybe not in your conference, but beating a great team from a great conference means something. You guys killed us all game last year too, and I have to say the environment there last year was electric. NO ONE in college football matched the vibe we walked into there last year, NO ONE!

There are good pieces to your team right now, it's just easy to focus on the obvious stuff, especially when you lose because we you wind up winning you let it pass. Ya'll will be a force to be reckoned with this year, I have no doubts about that.

Personally, from an outsider looking in, Dabo has done a number for you guys. You are in the top ranks of the ACC consistently now. Kind of what Richt has done for us. Will either get us to the national championship, who knows, but what they have done for our programs for recruiting, complex building, reputation, etc. can't easily be dismissed.

I appreciate the good comments on our guys I have red here, and not the constant "bunch of thugs.." crap I read on other sites after the games. They're all kids, and a good many can be problematic.

Good luck for the rest of the season. I'll be pulling for you guys!

Thanks for the perspective it seems so many of our fans are still missing the bigger picture. They will claim they were on the bandwagon the whole time if we beat FSU or beat a top 10 team in a bowl game again.

Yep! Remember some of these names for when it happens but

georgia doesn't have a game on their schedule you can't or shouldn't win. It's going to be a slaughter when you walk into that ##### hole known as Columbia you could put in that 3rd string back and get 200 on the ground against their slow defense and mediocre line backers. I would love to see georgia win out and should we put all of our pieces together and start busting heads on a consistent basis I would love to see georgia in the post season, it's always a fun game to watch other than the 4th quarter of the last game, that wasn't particularly entertaining for any of us. Please embarrass USuCk and put bama in their place if you should meet them in the sec championship game.

Thanks for your post, gaboy1. I think you were very fair in your assessment on the game. I, as a 1962 Clemson grad, enjoy us playing Jawja every year for a lot of reason. You folks have an electric team and are going to make a lot of noise in the SEC this year. Your defense was a lot better than what I had read they would be and your RB stable is the best I have seen in a long time.

Good luck to you folks the rest of the season.

ThX "Gaboy1" ..really appreciated & needed while mourning...

And yes, I concur playing Y'all is exciting too and doing it uP front to start the season is unreal anticipation..for fans & teams alike.

Kudos to punter & Gurley..for they set the stage for a well-fought victory.

Now, go get the chickens as we will tOO!

Ending the yearly rivalry with UGA

Sep 3, 2014, 12:31 AM

was a huge mistake. Both schools are so close to each other and have such good traditions. I felt like Bowden and Richt were such good friends, that they didn't want to play against each other instead of the excuse of the scheduling problem.

Excellent post - not because it is complimentary to the Tigers, but it summed up both fan bases exactly. We all tend to spout off too much before games and over react after games - whether we win or lose. Heck, we oaky a good half, leave some points on the field, play an awful third quarter and are down by three. Not stuff you jump off a bridge over.

Gurley, IMHO, is the best back we have faced in years. He can run over defenders, through arm tackles easily, has great balance, and the ability to outrun most defenders - ala Walker and Bo Jackson. The only thing left he has to prove is that he can stay healthy. I'm certainly not a UGA fan, but will certainly pull for then against the dirtpeckers and probably against their other SEC opponents!

Thanks, and there is no good reason for any of us to pull against y'all. If we win the rest, and y'all do too, it makes us look pretty good, too. And I must say I am no dog fan at all, living in the midst of them all the time as a Tiger is not an easy task.

Clemson is my favorite ACC team, and my 2nd favorite team in CFB. I pull for CU in every game except for vs us. Clemson fans are some of the classiest in CFB. Best wishes the rest of the season and, hopefully, we can both take care of the Coots (that's a term I just learned here).

Now do you see how great a Clemson education is?? We learned you a new cuss word, now go share it on the UGA boards and make it trend so that the coots will hear it coming from both fan bases... LOL

Keep paying attention, Pilgrim. There is much on this board to be learned. Some of it is even worthwhile.

Chad Morris play calling is predictable also

Sep 3, 2014, 12:12 AM

We ran one play 3 straight times. Even though it did get us a TD, you would think he could of called something different after it didn't work the first time.

So now we're criticizing play calling that results in touchdowns?

Thanks for the accurate words.

FYI, were I the schedule maker I would strive (and succeed?) for an annual game with Georgia. I've always considered beating Georgia as being necessary in order to achieve meaningful success.

Win em all y'all!!
