Dabo is hankering to be terminated as HC. At least he is kind of coming clean that he has ephed up and has no clue how to fix the bone-headed mess he created. Terrell didn’t “hose” us.
He got beat. He’s our best CB, at least for this season. (Whether he returns for SR season [unlikely] and remains as our best CB for 2025 who knows?)
My beef is with the incessant ‘blame it all in the Refs’ talk from Dabo and the Clemson PR network.
As you had pointed out in another post (I think it was you), back when we had Duke at 3rd and long -and- deep in Duke territory, and our LBs watched (or didn’t pay attention to) a Duke TE lumbering straight down the field towards them … and then kept on going (unfollowed / unnoticed by any Clemson defender) to catch a twenty five yard pass and then run for another twenty five yards. That play was almost as ruinous as the A.Terrell PI penalty one.

It could be face mask, illegal hands to the face, defensive holding, but since the ball is in the air and he is impeding the receiver and not making a play on the ball, it is PI. The dude has more PIs in his career than interceptions .

AT is nevertheless our best CB. There is no ‘close second.’
Hoping that Brandon Strozier and Corian Gipson learn how to play the position and learn how to tackle something tougher than a butterfly by the start of next season.

What happened a hlf second before that.
I've watched the replay several times. I saw a receiver seeing the pass in the air, running into the defender, pushing the defender, the defender in turn reaching out to control his balance and also stay between the receiver and the ball.
At any rate, I saw the initial contact being made by the receiver that led to a defender, who was pushed by the defender, losing his balance and making contact with the receiver.
But, that's just me.
And, that one call does not in anyway mitigate the horrible play by the Clemson Secondary the previous 59 minutes.

half second before that he was holding the receiver. . .05 seconds prior, he is grabbing the facemask, .1 seconds after that he releases the facemask. .25 seconds after, the ball sails past both of them.

I agree with you BretFSU - the still does not give full context. I also see a defender looking back towards where the ball is thrown from and the target receiver is looking at the defender. It’s not PI yet on the defender. Possible face mask but that wasn’t the call.

Fascinating exercise.
I saw that both Terrell and the Duke WR were heading in the direction of a (by then, uncatchable … by virtue of the DB hand-fighting with the WR to slow down the path of both players towards the spot to where the pass was thrown) pass. Terrell was backpeddling (the net effect made Terrell more if a ‘blocker’ to impede the WR’s path to the ball) and between the WR and the airborne ball; the WR was runn8ng straight forward and by every appearance was fully focused on getting to where the ball was heading. As for Terrell, ‘going for the ball while running backward’ does not look as him having the same priority of the Duke WR running straight ahead and ‘going for the ball.’
It should not be a surprise to anyone that, in a combo race + hand-to-hand pushing match (in which a WR is running forward and the DB is running backward) that the DB ends up being the guy that got pushed down.
I’m not dismissing how others interpreted what they saw. Nor am I inferring that I know more about FB rules than anyone else. I’m just describing what I saw, and sharing my opinion that PI was a reasonable interpretation by the refs.
Heck, I wish the refs had not thrown the flag. Ashton Hampton has had great luck at committing obvious defensive holding and PI without being flagged. Too bad that AH wasn’t covering that Duke WR.

So why wasn’t the flag thrown at that spot? Flag was thrown after duke receiver took our defender down. Perfect timing to save the game for duke. Yes, Tigers shouldn’t have let them get the ball that close but that was as bad as Auburn/Ga officiating.

I see a good opportunity for the ref to keep the flag in his pocket and wave his arms incomplete. Both players had hands on each other, and you can find that on every ###*ned pass play in every ###*ned game every ###*ned where. I’ve seen a whole lot worse not called.

And the actions of the WR before that in stance
During a legal forward pass (loose ball play), all eligible A players (by number and position) may catch the pass/loose ball in flight, untouched by B, and ALL B players are eligible to catch the pass in flight. Being both receiver (A) and defender (B) have equal rights, either player is entitled to whatever spot on the field they can get to first without contact. Pass interference restrictions for A begin with the snap and for B when the pass leaves the passers hand. From my initial review of the play, it looks like B has position and then A changes direction, engages B (DB) and is blocking B (DB) because B already had position. That sure looked like OPI to me.

I see a reciever trying to run through a DB (which he can't do) to try and get a poorly thrown ball and then tackling the DB because the DB would've been in better position. The DB is entitled to his position and the reciever can't push them. What you're seeing is offensive pass interference.

I saw the defender raising his hands in a reaction to being pushed by the receiver. He is already off balance and falling backwards.
