Cade is Afraid

It's his development and psyche. Cade is striving for perfection. He's afraid to make a mistake on every pass. Paralysis by analysis. He's waiting for the receiver to be open by 8-10 yards.
Riley and Dabo have failed to instill confidence in the kid and in fact have undermined it. The Clemson Offense and playbook is middle school level. And Cade has a tendency to preselect his receiver on most plays. This is not Joe Burrow. But very few to no one else is either from a pure passing standpoint.
Cade has more of a college-level Jalen Hurts' skill level. This can be improved in the NFL (where he can start out as a quality backup) with better coaching. The confidence is up to Cade. See receiver breaking open. Grip it and rip it.

is covered like white on rice. Again though he was under so much pressure, he could never get into a groove...

Great QB’s arent developed they are born that way. Those basic instincts can’t be instilled

I'm not sure what game you watched last Saturday, but Cade was under a lot of pressure. He nor the receivers had time to hook up.
Cade is not Trevor or Deshaun, but he's a very good QB. If he has decent pass protection, he'll be just fine.
The OL has to step up. If not, there will be several more L's.

The tape don't lie. Sadly this is a common problem in big time games. He may have a couple misses today but it won't matter. He can force a pass and still complete it because of the skill level. Plus, we'll run all over them and it'll open up some slam dunk seams etc... this should occur until the fsu game.

Cade definitely had a bad game, as he looked more like freshman Cade than senior Cade, and that's largely on him alone. Still, the whole offense looked unprepared, a step slow, and like they were playing their first pre-season practice scrimmage. Nearly every team I saw that day, regardless of talent level, had a much better prepared offense.

Agree. Never came close to playing the position. Cant imagine what its like at that level. However, I think we all recognize a response to changing conditions: you're like, "alright, I'll figure this out", or "oh #####, now what!" Grilling, business, conversations, phone calls, golf, whatever. It's a universal thing. It's either I got this, or oh #####.
Cade seems to be the latter. We want to blame everything on somebody, so we blame the coaches. That is true to a point, but you cant fix everything. It might simply be Clemson's bad luck to have whiffed on two QB's in a row who otherwise checked all the boxes. If Kelly Bryant had been born three years later we likely have another championship.
If this were a video game I'd switch to Denson and play for the future. But cant do that in real life. Or can you?

I think he makes his mind up who he’s going to throw to, and he doesn’t look for anyone else. We saw that, for sure, last week. I had such high hopes for him and for our team, but not much confidence instilled last week, IMO.

Cade is a veteran and most certainly is not afraid but is affected by a good defense that could not be blocked like the LSU defense. Give credit where credit is due and will be a happier boy.

The cameras centered on Cade during pregame and he looked nervous rather than excited. Kind of telegraphed what was to come.

Yeah he’s normally smiling pregame. He looked nervous but #### who wouldn’t be? He just needed the run game to settle him down. Clemson came out with a vanilla game plan on offense. #### the defense did to but they did their jobs for the most part until the offense couldn’t sustain drives.

Run hurry up offense. Don’t give him time to think and don’t give the opposing defense time to set.

Minimize the time for Cade to get into his own head when he's on the field and let all those reps and instincts take over.

I think Cade is striving for perfection because of all of the criticism he has dealt with during his time at Clemson.
I know what it is looking ke my HS baseball coach was constantly criticizing many of the team.
When I played summer leave ball I had a coach with a different personality. That made a major difference for me. I averaged over .200 higher against better pitching just because my new coach had confidence in my abilities.
Sometimes a player responds much better to a different style of coaching. You don’t always have yell and scream at a player to get improvement from that player. Sometimes trust and confidence is all he / she needs.

I wish he could get back to that first ACCCG against UNC where he came in for DJU and played lights out. I thought he played well against Texas. I'm afraid our coaching staff has coached him down and his receivers.

He thrives when the offense goes tempo. That’s why he always looks so much better in those last drives of close games. Go back and watch you’ll see. The kid looks amazing when the offense is going no huddle.

Exactly right. Totally baffling to me that we don’t run up tempo, especially in these games that Cade has a tendency to freeze up.

I’m not disagreeing but no running game forced the OL to have to try and block 7 guys 2/3 of the time (the number of times they blitzed) plus losing Williams early in the game was a big blow. He literally had little help against one of the best D’s in the country.
I’m hoping to see some improvement against Troy in preparation for what he will face in Atlanta next weekend.

Cade's 36 passing TDs last year are abysmal (means not good for you coots). Sit him.
