Perfect place for him at least based on this year. Think osu played 20 qbs this year but their primary wasn't asked to run much. Don't really rely on big pass plays. Methodical drives with short passes. They seem to prefer a game manager.
Who knows how that might change. But the current coach doesn't rely on rpo or qb running. Not an air raid offense. Hopefully he balls out. Expectations are not really a natty. If he took them to Rose Bowl, he'll be the goat.

I agree. I got to watch some of the games the Beavers played this year, close L to USC and Washington. The U of O comeback was great, that second half they played was how we should have been playing DJU. Methodical indeed, didnt throw the ball more than 10 times that whole half i bet. Im excited for him

I’m just taking a stab at Dabo’s cringe statement that God’s NIL is Clemson’s NIL. If that’s the fact, DJU should’ve destroyed it. The only thing DJU destroyed was all of Clemson’s streaks.
2021 and 2022 were DJ disasters.
Hopefully CK2 can at least salvage this season on Friday.

What's creepy is you. And your fondness of a man that has been gone from Clemson for decades. And someone who almost got us served us a big ole pile of death penalty just after he Patrino'd out of town. Granted, we won a championship under him, and he was a hellava nice guy. (met him in '82 at camp) but the facts remain. No bowls, no tv, limited scholarships, no ranking, lots of nos.
That said, we, and think I speak for many here, are F##KING ecsatic about the arrival/promotion of the young gunslinger. For the first time in almost 2 years, we expect greatness on the offensive side of the ball. If you do not see the difference in production, energy, and general mojo surrounding this kid, then you must be deaf dumb and blind. So, I suggest you zip it until you have something positive to say. ?

Stop it. 2021 was a disaster. We won ten games not thanks to DJ but in spite of DJ. Clemson was the luckiest team in the planet in 2021, should’ve lost to BC but the qB dropped a good snap, should have lost to Syracuse but their kicker misses a chip shot, should’ve lost to GT, got lucky against Louisville and were fortunate to get to play Brock Purdy in a bowl game because DJ as terrible as he was he was luckier than Purdy. In that game DJU threw at least three passes that should’ve been picked but we’re dropped. Before you say “we could easily have been undefeated” stop. The only way we end up undefeated is if DJU hadn’t played. In the three losses DJ completed 51%, 46%, 47%! This year you can’t hang the ND loss on him though his pick six wasn’t a help, his play against South Carolina was so woefully anemic at this level it will never be seen again. Had he completed what average ACC QBs do, about 60%, rather than 28% Clemson easily wins the game despite the other mistakes that were made. Had the 21, and 22 team had Kelly Bryant as qB we’d have gone to the CFP both years. Kelly Bryant isn’t the second coming of Peyton manning. I wish DJ well but be honest. Four of of five losses in the last two years you can hang on him.

I'm not necessarily glad he left Clemson, but I'm glad for the QB change. It was past time, or at least time for another QB to get playing opportunity. I'm happy DJ will get another chance at another respectable school. I wish him well, but my more fervent wish is that Cade balls out, and he takes this team to the level all of us have longed for since TL left. Go Tigers!!!

I think if you look at the usual cast of characters that are playoff caliber, most of them are pretty set with a couple of good QBs or have a high star QB coming in. Kind of like us, you go after who you want but you only sign 1 per cycle who really is going to have a chance to play at some point.

Oregon State did go 10-3 (#14 in the polls) and pounded Florida in their bowl game, so it isn't a complete clunker of a P5 spot. I get that early money was on UCLA, but high-profile head coach aside, UCLA really hasn't had a better season (9-3, going into their bowl game). It might be more of a put-up-or-shut-up opportunity for DJU.

I don't see why everyone is so over the moon about a freshman who had one great game and several mediocre appearances this year. And I'm including the Syracuse game in the mediocre category: the best thing Klubnik did on the field that day was to get two questionable penalties called in his favor. But I seem to remember the DJ-fever after the ND game his freshman year--a game that Clemson lost. I am not anti-Klubnik in any way. I hope he's the greatest ever. And I see the potential. And I'm not blind to DJU's poor performances the last two years. It is probably best for him and Clemson that he moved on. I just don't understand the vitriol when it comes to a student-athlete who did the best he could on the field, was a class act and a beloved teammate, got his Clemson degree, and who decided that he needed a fresh start to pursue the dreams he's not ready to give up on.

Oregon State is a QB away from being a legit contender to win the Pac 12. Jonathan Smith has it rolling right now.
DJ is an improvement over what they have. Hopefully he can do well in a less stressful environment.
Corvallis and Eugene are less than 50 miles apart so Matayo is close by.
I wish him the best. After totally blowing it last year, I believe DJ truly gave it his best this year but just wasn't good enough. No shame in that.

I disagree that DJ is a step up from their QB. Their starter at the beginning of the season for the first five games was hurt, and is the one in the portal. The backup freshman QB led them to six wins of the last 7 games, including beating Oregon and Florida in the bowl game. Watch the game highlights of the Florida game (Youtube). No way DJU beats that guy for the starting job.

IMO, the 30-3 score was a major indictment against Billy Napier. His players were unmotivated and their effort was disgraceful.
Gulbranson did a serviceable job of managing the UF game. That's about all you can really say. Take my word for it, he is NOT a good player. There is nothing he does well. Oregon State beat Oregon IN SPITE of Gulbranson, not because of him. He was terrible.
In pretty much every way, DJ is an improvement. Unless he collapses mentally, he'll win and keep the starting job easily.
I'm probably the only person on Tigernet that regularly watches Pac 12 football. Mainly Oregon, Oregon State and USC.

Read my post at the beginning. I think he's a good fit. I didn't see some of their early games but caught the last half. They played what, like 20 different QB's this year trying to find one. Jk, but it was a few. Will be interested to see what the coach can do.

Oregon State supposedly wants to fix his mechanics. They supposedly have a good OL but were limited by their QB. They ran the ball primarily. The think were just a quality QB away from competing with USC, who the lost to by 3. They finished the season 10-3. They were good supposedly. I never watched them.

DJ’s footwork was much better this past year than it was in 2021.
If OR State coaches can figure out what physical tinkering can be done to further improve his accuracy, then DJ will have a real chance at success. He also desperately needs to learn the subtleties of looking-off DBs and to stop staring down the primary receiver.
As others have said, few PAC 12 teams play consistently good defense. That factor, all by itself, gives DJ a much better chance to look good.
(With PAC 12 teams, Utah has pretty consistent D; USC is sometimes OK but plays D well below their talent.)
With less pressure from opposing DLs and more typically open WRs, DJ will do well out there.

He also needs to be willing to go to a secondary receiver who is open, instead of waiting, and staring down, and waiting some more trying to throw to a receiver who never gets open or isn't open on the regular field of play. So many times DJ never saw a wide open receiver, because he just couldn't bring himself to see a secondary target.

Could be true, but DJ missed so many wide open receivers this year that I'm not sure it was a coaching problem as much as it was a DJ problem.

Ummmmmmm..... No. The coaches definitely deserve blame for what has happened, but to overlook DJ? Youre delusional. He still has to perform. Wr play didnt help, either, but to say he is without blame is like saying you deserve a participation trophy.

Yes, mistakes aplenty to go around, but DJU certainly didn't help matters, at all. I'd say he probably exacerbated the problem.

Wow! 247 has had him 100% to Hawaii for at least a week. I don't think OSU was on anyone's radar. UCLA and Cal both had a little traction but Oregon St. was completely new from anything I had been reading.
Good for him if he can make it happen.

.....DJ is a fine young man. He took more abuse in the past 2 years than a room full of adults will take in their entire lifetime. Despite that, plus dealing with some personal issues that have been widely reported, he held his head high and to my knowledge never said a single negative thing about the team, coaches, or Clemson. To me, that speaks volumes about him as a person.
He was 22-6 as a starter. Not a bad resume. There is nothing wrong with critical debate or healthy discussions. A lot of Tiger fans took that to a whole new level and, in my opinion, were just downright rude about him. That is very sad for a group that often describes themselves by saying "a Clemson man needs no introduction".
DJ is a Clemson graduate and always will be. I certainly hope this new opportunity gives him what he needs to be overwhelmingly successful.

If pressure/mental issues are his demons I don’t see any relief from that in transferring to a new program. It’s seems like those issues would compound at a transfer school. More pressure on him is going to require more confidence.

At least he gets the chance to figure out if it was him or if it was just the wrong fit for what we ran. Either way, he will be able to move on knowing he did everything he could to find out and he won't have to look back and always wonder, "what if."

Me, too! I certainly wish him tremendous success. I also wish Cade to have tremendous success at Clemson. He gets a big stage to show it all of on in Miami. It will be a huge statement if he leads us to a good, old fashioned, #### whipping of UT. It will be so inspirational for fans, the Tiger team and for Cade. Go Tigers!!! We are going to enjoy watching this one unfold.

Long way until next season. If he makes it to Spring practice and is evaluated that will be the end of it. I don't see him taking a snap there unless he was the only QB on the roster. Nothing against DJ - he's simply not even close to being a FBS QB. Maybe he can get a graduate degree and work with the team in some other capacity. Best of luck to him.

Now that I have your attention.... I don't give a rat's #### how DJ does out west. No more than I did for KB, Chez, or any other player who claimed their devotion to the program and turned tail when things didn't go their way. I'm not poor mouthing or wanting harm to come to anyone. I just root for Clemson tigers, and if you are playing for another college team, you most certainly are NOT a tiger.
