The only coaches I would say should be completely safe are Luke, Allen and Bloulware. None have been on the job at Clemson long enough to be purged. Everyone else should be getting their resumes in order.

a bunch (in fact a whole bunch) of former players as assistant coaches and to serve in various support roles, who have absolutely no prior experience and, frankly, it shows! I believe the total number of former players currently on his staff is upwards of 30. Dabo's job is to assemble the best most experience group of coaches available and win games, not train and develop the next generation of aspiring coaches. Just my .02 cents!

Yes absolutely 1000% bc it’s not going to get better until we do.

Dabos time has come and gone. Major love to him for doing everything he’s done at Clemson but Father Time is undefeated all time.

Dabo is no different. He just doesn’t fit into the modern college football world anymore. At one time… he was the innovative creative guy that was ahead of the curb. He won 2 titles and played for 4 and then the entire college football world changed and he refused to change with it.

He’ll make some changes to the staff and probably use the portal a little more but he’s never going to reach the level that we were at again. He’s not even going to come close.

Last year was and will be his last ever ACC title. He will never even make the playoffs again much less win a national championship.

8/9 wins will be the absolute ceiling under him going forward and some here will be fine with that but not me. It’s proven you can win national championships here.

Obviously we can’t win it all every year but we should be in the conversation more than not and that’s not going to be the case moving forward.

I’m sure I’ll get the usual coot coot coot but I really don’t care. This is my opinion and I fully believe it.

It’ll take 2/3 more years of this before everyone starts to fully buy in and see it and that’s fine bc I have no final say either way.

Build the statue… name the stadium or field or both after him and he deserves it all but I’m ready to move on bc we’re going nowhere with him as the guy.

I stopped being All In when Dabo kept responding w/ his past accomplishments

In response to hard questions about the program and its failures this year, Dabo resorted to regaling us about his past accomplishments instead of discussing (in a general sense at the time, this would have been fine) about how things are going to be fixed and how our most experienced, highest overall roster of highly -regarded- players turned out to produce a whopping turd of a season.

Such defensiveness is what leaders without answers or ideas about what to do differently do to ‘protect’ themselves.

Whether Dabo is 45 years old, or 55 years old, or 75 years old when such diversionary answers occur, this is a sure fire sign that he is out of ideas … or cannot abide competing in the current CFB environment which he perceives to be ~ immoral. He has a good argument about the ‘immorality’ of today’s CFB, but that isn’t the issue.

I do not believe that he can balance his desire to maintain the ‘morality’ of Clemson FB with the new competitive environment in which a scarce few teams (Notre Dame, for example) can ‘afford’ (from both the ethical standards + the monetary frame of reference) to compete at the highest level.

(*). This is not to say that Dabo is wrong in standing for coaching principles which align with his morals. However, if Clemson University is not willing to substitute Clemson’s standard of ‘morality’ for Dabo’s, then Dabo is no longer a fit for us.

IMO.

I don’t think a single person can combat what you just laid out. Good stuff and I am with you step for step.

I think he will step down before he will give in to the immoral ways of the current landscape. The minds eye just can’t see Dabo Swinney changing anything because that would be admitting he is wrong.

Narcissist can’t do that.

I agree for the most part with TigerRag4416. It's hard to imagine the board of directors of a floundering company in a competitive business getting together and deciding "Yeah, we'll replace all the guys on the staff that the head man put together, but leave the head man in place to hire a new staff. That will fix things."

My only consolation is that I am usually wrong about such things and hope I am wrong again.

Yours truly,

When Tom Allen said that we aren’t good enough to play man coverage, that’s an indictment on Mike Reed and Mickey Conn.

Riley looks to be gone based off what Dabo is saying. Spiller should be gone.

I'd keep (not in any particular order)
Reed, Conn, Rumph, Luke

I'm on the fence with Richardson, Eason, and Allen..

The rest need to go...

Rumph?

Serious question… no condescension… do you really believe that TJ Parker or Peter Woods are on the level of any of our past 1st round DL?

They’re almost invisible especially Parker. Woods at least is fighting double teams constantly but even with that… does he impact the game like Dexter Lawrence or Christian Wilkins?

Going beyond former first round guys… does he impact the game like DJ Reader or Grady Jarrett?

Same with Parker this year. Rumph IMO has been a massive disappointment. He absolutely needs to go and so does Nick Eason bc he’s done no better. If anything… Parker and Woods have regressed.

Conn? Seriously bro? Another one of Dabos nepo hires. Dude is out of his league.

Richardson? For a guy that’s supposed to be some passing game expert… our passing game sure doesn’t look expert to me.

Even Luke… I get it… year 2… but last years OL was progressing. Now we’re regressing with basically the same guys. I see people say… well he needs his guys… but yall… the guys out there playing were very highly rated guys. It’s not like he’s working with no talent whatsoever.

Allen? Dude has turned our defense into a joke. Zero and I mean zero aggression. Do we ever heat the QB up? Playing that soft zone let’s keep everything in front of us reactive bs does not work. It won’t work even 3/4 years from now when he to… “has his guys”.

I want to go back to our old 4 down linemen and bring the heat with pure man to man on the outside. Allen’s whole philosophy is… can the opponent go 60/70/80 yards using 8/10/12 plays and score TDs consistently? Sure looks to me like opposing offenses are having zero problems doing just that.

Some of it is certainly talent drop off or more importantly lack of depth but that’s where you have to scheme to your players strengths. Allen came in and installed his defense and said screw it he’s going to put square pegs in round holes and make it fit and that just doesn’t work.

I hate being reactive on defense. I hate it with a passion. It’s even more maddening when your personnel isn’t built for that and you keep doing it anyway.

Basically we’re dying death by a thousand cuts instead of dying by the blitz. At least dying by the blitz lets the QB know he’s going to get hit and could possibly cause him to rush things or make mistakes. Letting QBs stand back there all day they’re eventually going to find an open WR.

The whole thing is rotten from the inside out. That’s why they all need to go but we all know that ain’t going to be the case.

Whats different at Clemson? IMO the most likely explanation is that we have poor position coaches. We also seem to be lacking speed in some areas, but even our really talented, highly rated players have been under-performing.

What’s different is he is playing with half a roster on defense of fall back recruits that should be playing at Furman or GaSouthern. The secondary, safety in particular, and most of the LBs, aren’t P4 talent.

And the “stars” he does have, have disappeared. The only one that looks like he gives a chit is Sammy Brown, and he’s still green.

The program is in shambles. And it’s all because of the coach’s ego. Every bit is self harm. There should be accountability for what has transpired.

I’d like for Dabo to be bold and aggressive on all fronts. We don’t need an incremental approach. We need a multifaceted strategy that quickly addresses as many of our issues as possible in the short run and also a solid long-term strategy to maintain future success.

I know Dabo can do this if the spirit is willing, and if he can just set aside some of the pride and focus more on the solutions.

No. We are not UNC football.

However, we have seen almost three seasons of this offense and it is not getting better. It lacks depth such that the loss of one back or receiver derails it. Portal participation would certainly help, but the entire approach is not clear other than allowing the QB to ad-lib and make plays on his feet. Time to re-think the offense entirely from the leadership on down.

While some need to go surely, I don’t know if fresh faces are going to take us much further if we continue the same approach.
Need to clean house with our approach to transfer portal , support staff hires (that are clearly in the family and friends deal, and that money could be reallocated to NIL / recruiting ) , and overall approach to every football decision seemingly being handed down from one man (let coordinators hire their own guys, run their own offenses, etc)

Former players with no experience outside of Clemson have to go. Family members have to go. Just that alone would clean out the bulk of the problem in my opinion. I am still surprised in the modern age of employment where many large organizations have anti-neoptism policies that they allow such rampant nepotism in the sports programs. Former players is not the same problem as nepotism, but it speaks to an inbred mindset permeating the program. If all you know is Clemson and don't have real coaching experience from anyplace else how could you know anything different? The university does this with teachers...they do try to avoid hiring their own doctoral degree candidates to avoid intellectual inbreeding. Intellectual inbreeding leads to a group think and inherent weakness in an educational institution and like it or not the football program is ultimately education in how to play a sport.

Neoptism has many problems which is why many employers have policies against it.
1. Under-qualified people working in jobs above their skill level while more substantial candiates have to go elsewhere.
2. Evading responsibilities or poor performance without consequences
3. Toxic workplace due to favoritism
4. Denial of growth to more skilled people
5. Damages organization reputation
6. Work place violence if it gets to its worst outcome

Coaches I’d keep:

Allen (Doesn’t have his guys)
Luke(same as above) some schemes require a type. He had those at UGa 🤷🏾‍♂️
Reed( when he’s had talent they’ve played well)

Eason can recruit but develop 🤷🏾‍♂️
Rumph idk Parker is non existent. Even with Heldt. Idk what’s going on. They talk the talk as players but proving it ain’t showing up.
