What the heck was OBJ doing there celebrating anyway??

It's not like OBJ was on the team or has played with any of these guys - dude left LSU back in 2014. I know we have former players show up to games but you don't see them pulling these kind of antics or being the center of the locker room celebration. This was the current LSU teams' accomplishment, not his, and seems to me OBJ has a screw lose by injecting himself into the teams celebration in this fashion...

Yeah but. Watson just won a natty 2 years previous and played with the seniors on the team. Also, Deshaun was not wasted acting like an idiot, handing out money to players. Watson didn’t smack a cop on his ###.

None of those are the things were initially complained about. I pointed out that Deshaun did the things that were initially complained about and then came the "but also these things". If you had an issue with OBJ coming back to celebrate and the center of the locker room celebrations, you should have a problem with Deshaun doing those same exact things. You just can't see past your biased. If I were to find video of Deshaun handing out money and smacking a cop on the ###, you'd excuse that and pick something else out that OBJ did. What's your excuse for Tajh coming back last season an celebrating with the team? He surely didn't play with them.

I'm not an LSU fan and why is it that everyone on this board seems to resort to calling every other team's fans names like "trashy"? Every team has trash fans and I hate to break it to you, that includes Clemson.

Pretty sad that you think I'm an LSU fan simply because I'm willing to admit that Clemson and their fans do questionable things sometimes, just like literally every team in the country. Sounds like you just have complete blind allegiance.

Again, to reiterate since your blind hatred toward everything not Clemson is clouding your reality.
-The original complaint in this subthread was that OBJ was not part of the team and that he didn't play with any of these guys. Tajh wasn't either when he came to the sidelines and the locker room after the championship last year.
-Another complaint was that none of the Clemson former players inserted themselves into celebrations or made themselves the center of it in the locker room. DW4 did just that last year as well.
-The complaint was that this was the current LSU teams' celebration yet many former Clemson players have done everything that was complained about in the original complaint.
I pointed that out so then those complaints were ignored and they picked apart other things to complain about instead. All this does is show a blind allegiance to Clemson and a pretty gross hatred of everything not Clemson. If you have issues with those initial things, you should also take issue with Clemson players doing the exact same thing, otherwise you are what is known as a hypocrite.

Did you celebrate Clemson winning last year? Were you on the team? Were any of the fans that had parties and celebrated on the team? Kind of a dumb statement.

I guess reading comprehension is not your strong suit. I never said or implied that fans/former players shouldn't celebrate their team winning. I guess you missed where I stated: "I know we have former players show up to games but you don't see them pulling these kind of antics or being the center of the locker room celebration."
Since you obviously misconstrued or misinterpreted my point - I'll make it again with a little different language:
OBJ is an attention w h o r e that selfishly inserted himself into LSU's victory beyond what a normal fan/previous team member would do.
Your welcome for the clarification....

Deshaun and Tajh have both been in the locker rooms celebrating with Clemson long after they are no longer in the school. have they literally done the same thing and handed out money? No but they HAVE been in the locker room in the center of the celebration, which is PART of your complaint about OBJ.

OK... One more time for the slow among us... READ what I wrote. I specifically said "...being THE CENTER of the locker room celebration"... Notice I did NOT say being IN the center of the locker room celebration. There is a difference between what I actually wrote and what you are attributing to my comment. So, I'll explain one more time...
What I wrote is NOT about merely being present in the room during the celebration (no issues with that) but instead my comment is about OBJ seeking to suck up the attention during the celebration with his antics (i.e. handing out cash in a very prolific way).

So you are talking literal geographical location of where he was? Tajh has literally been int he center of the locker room while people celebrate around him as well, same with DW4, so they were LITERALLY the center of the celebration. nah, to be it just sounds like you are a sour fan that is looking for any reason to justify Clemson's loss by tearing down any part of the victor that you can. Watch the full video of him in the locker room, he was celebrating with the team and the players on the TEAM made him the center of attention. He was also celebrating other players and hyping them up for what they did on the field. More than I can say for DW4 taking all the credit a few weeks ago for their comeback win.

OBJ Inserted Himself at the Invitation

Of LSU.
If LSU didn’t want him there he wouldn’t have been there. If the University officials who saw him giving out cash to players didn’t want him in the locker room, he wouldn’t have been in the locker room. Yep OBJ is an idiot but he has always been that way. LSU should have done a better job policing the team.

We sure didn't chant vulgar stuff, scream obscenities at 5 yr olds, and deny anyone wearing opposing team gear into restaurants, and have former players high or drunk passing out $100 bills after the game...in front of live TV cameras...then lie about it. We celebrated, but we didn't do any of that. I'll take 100 losses being "us" over 100 wins being "you."

Wow, sounds like a lot of conjecture and hearsay. Please show me where that stuff happened outside of the money part? You don't think Clemson fans have EVER gotten drunk or high in public and done stupid things? Screamed at children? Denied opposing fans things? I seem to remember Clemson fans getting drunk, climbing light poles, climbing on cars and getting arrested. But I suppose that's just good ol' illegal fun and doesn't count toward what YOU think is bad? I seem to remember 3 former Clemson players being arrested for armed robbery in Clemson. I also remember a viral video a year or two ago of Clemson fans violently brawling in the stands with children around them. But I suppose all of these things don't count into the things that you seem to be outraged about?

A lot of crazy in these OBJ threads. Former players are welcome in our organization to continue to be a part of our program as far as our coaches are concerned, and that is good enough for me. If you choose to be a Clemson Tiger, you are a Clemson Tiger football player for the rest of your life.
With that there is a responsibility to be someone people in the community can look up to, and not to embarrass the program. I don’t have any problem with OBJ celebrating with LSU. I have a huge problem with cash payments being dolled out to players.

LSU coaching staff had a screw loose for letting him in...that's Ed Ostralines call and he is wholly responsible for it...so is the AD of LSU...shows you the health of the program...listening to the filthy language in the locker room they are bound to get all the five star recruits from the HOOD in NO...English department at LSU is now suspect as well!

Sound like a racist POS...what was that in the LSU locker room...you may talk like that all the time and it's OK...you are right, just words, but sometimes your words define what you are with everyone that's listening...words are free, but not their meaning to those listening! Some folks are just going to scream 'racism' every time they hear such language...I know it's their fault! Life in the HOOD is so so good!

You make it sound like white people don't use that very same language all the time. Have you listened to any of these videos at Trump rallies? The things they are saying are MUCH worse and that's at a "celebration" for the President of the United States, far more important than a college football game, I would think. Do you complain about those people acting like they are "in the hood"?

Supposedly, the players were thinking it was a show with fake money. Time will tell I suppose. I would venture to bet 75% of student athletes take money in some form or another, just not in front of cameras. The fix is not punishing the kids, the fix is letting them make some #### money off of these greedy billionaires using them and claiming it's to "further their education"

Where did the players say they thought it was a show with fake money? You can't be serious? I know that's what the lying associate AD said (lied), but I havent seen where the players thought it was a joke. That's absurd to even suggest that. You could plainly see how they eagerly accepted their $100 bills.

It was in the heat of celebration. Nobody in their right minds would violate rules like that in front of the whole world. I'm sure you would have slapped it out of his hand and said "NO, BAD OBJ! That is against the rules!"

So in the thick of celebration, you are celebrating with a school legend, he pulls out a wad of cash and hands it to you, what do you do? Slap it out of his hand? Say "I'm sorry but that is a violation of Code 44c-138b of the NCAA Code of Conduct and I cannot accept that but thank you for everything you have done for our great school". No, it's kind of like when someone throws something at you, you are likely going to catch it.

Exactly. Obj put those student athletes in a horrible position on national television. If they didn’t take the money OBJ throws a hissy fit. If they do it’s an NCAA violation caught on camera. You realize this doesn’t happen when Alabama and Clemson win? Or Auburn or Oregon or Texas or Ohio state. Shot Miami didn’t even act like that. OBJ wanted attention on him obviously. If you can’t see that your biased is to much too overcome. No one on here gives a #### about him celebrating with the players. The issue is OBJ is now the headline instead of the national championship these kids just won, and the position he put student athletes in on national tv.

Yes I realized it didn't happen when Alabama or Clemson won. It also didn't happen when Florida won,or literally any other team ever. This is the only time it happened and it was one person being an idiot, people on this board try to act like it was the entire organization that was behind OBJ being a moron. Yes, the school released a statement saying it was fake money. Is that any different than Clemson and Dabo claiming the positive drug tests were an "accident"? It led to suspensions, they should have owned up to it and agreed to make changes. Instead, they looked like they were hiding something. Every team does this, it's not new.

So, the XFL will not have the NFL's age limits. Go play in the XFL. Where you can expect to make about $50K per season and have to pay taxes, buy your own food, pay your rent, etc. from that $50K.

Still make more money than they NCAA, which is absolutely nothing. And they can actually make a little money while risking injury and get real NFL-caliber time in so they will be less likely to bust in the NFL. More players will start doing this just like they are with basketball unless NCAA stops their greedy ways. The more players do it, the more the NFL will treat XFL as a minor league. No logical reason that a player shouldn't be able to at least be sponsored and do commercials.

Before about the midway point if this past season, I had no idea who Joe Burrow was. He is a special talent no doubt, but am I reading too much into his demeanor and how he carried himself postgame Monday night to state that he could be the next Johnny Manziel?

Lol, every time a good quarterback plays well against Clemson, someone on here says he's the next Manziel. Do you remember how cocky DW4 was? Still is for that matter, he took all the credit for the Texans comeback a few weeks ago giving no credit to the Watt sack that spurred the whole thing or any of the other players involved.

It has nothing to do with Burrow playing well against Clemson, and everything to do with how he carried himself afterward. I prefaced my question with giving him credit for being a special talent. Manziel was a special talent too, although not as good as Burrow, IMO.
There was a difference in Deshaun’s confidence and Burrows cockiness. I don’t recall seeing Deshaun in a post game presser smoking cigars with a hat that read “Big #### Deshaun”. But hey, it’s your narrative, tell anyway you’d like.

That how they roll in the SEC.
lsu has turned this over to the NCAA and the SEC. See how far those investigations go. The sec will prob give lsu a special waiver so the players can keep their booty. The ncaa will look the other way. Espin with not talk about it.

Burrow is 5th year senior, graduated from OSU in 3 years, just received a Masters from LSU in 1.5 years.... He's no longer a student....or eligible...
I can tell you everyone at LSU is upset with OBJ, especially former players who were there,... he is selfish and boneheaded...nothing new right? Great talent, but fame and money has ruin his character.
McElroy on ESPNU said he was drunk and wanted to put on TV ...they wouldn't do it...."we saved him a lot of personal embarrassment"...
this is OBJ drawing attention to himself while enjoying the big win... I think it's a nothing story...though it a bad look no doubt.

IF not enrolled at LSU on Monday--why isn't he ineligible??

I bet there isn't a piece of paper saying he withdrew from the University 5 seconds after 00:00 on the clock!

you don't have to withdraw if you are no longer eligible.
That, and who cares if he is still a student athlete. What are they going to do, tell him he is suspended?

What they will probably do is pass down some restriction for LSU recruiting that doesn't make a hill of beans. It seems to highlight the large number of self centered individuals that have come through your university. They are completely unconcerned that what I guess they consider their former school could face penalties for their actions. Whether anything happens or not these actions have increased scrutiny with LSU and the ones causing it just don't care.

Their punishment will be having to smoke cigars with tobacco filler instead of the herbal filler. Divinity is pissed......he only tested positive 5 times in a year.

The statement that Burrow made saying it didn’t matter since he was no longer a student athlete, shows a real self-centered attitude. It matters to his team mates and coaches and the LSU program.

Because we blindly hate everything that is not Clemson and we celebrate when other teams or fans do something wrong while pretending we never do.

"We"? let me get this straight... you're including yourself as a Clemson Fan? With a 17% pulse. I snorted my coffee when I read that. You're so far from being a Clemson Fan that you can't even see it... Wow. When are you going to take your bullshirt back to your own fan site? Get a life!

oh yes, a stupid arbitrary number on a single message board totally says if I'm a fan or not. Read my posts, all I have done is not have a completely blind sheep-like allegiance and I refuse to admit that Clemson is a perfect program with perfect people. I don't defend or make excuses for bad things they have done and I admitted that LSU was simply a better team this year, which they were. Everyone here wants to make sad excuses for why Clemson lost, while they bashed every Alabama fan last year for just not admitting that Clemson was better. People vote that down because they don't like their little box shattered. You CAN be a fan AND admit bad things or that your team was just beat plain and simple, they aren't mutually exclusive. Also, what OBJ did had absolutely nothing to do with LSU beating Clemson, it's just a sad attempt at taking away what LSU rightfully earned and try to pretend that there is some underlying thing here to explain why Clemson was defeated. They lost because they weren't as good as LSU, people vote me down for that, oh well. I still root for Clemson, good or bad.

of posting your crap on our board, and wander off to find a site that better fits your mentality.
Yes, LSU "rightfully earned" the victory and the National Championship. On Monday night, January 13, 2020, LSU was clearly the better team. My posts have reflected that.
Nothing OBJ did had anything to do with the LSU victory. I could be mistaken, but I don't think any of my posts have mentioned OBJ. I think his behavior was abhorrent... that's my opinion.
The only negatives I've had to say about the NCG is that the LSU fan base, especially those outside the stadium on Poydras Street (most of whom I'm sure had not been to the game) did a particularly lousy job of representing Louisiana State University. That's my opinion... I'm entitled to it... and I'll stand by it.
Again, do yourself and everyone on this site a favor and wander off into the sunset.

You wan to talk about how Clemson fans acted after the NCG? Climbing light poles, throwing beer, smashing bottles, getting arrested. This isn't new and it's nto exclusive to LSU. Most fans of every team are good fans. The few make it look bad and everyone on this board acts like every team they play has the worst fans and act like Clemson has the best. They are literally all the same. A bunch of drunk immature sports fans with hyped up testosterone thinking that any of it has any significance at all to how good their school actually is. No, LSU doesn't have the "worst and trashiest fans", just like Alabama didn't the year before or UGA when Clemson played them or South Carolina or Florida or Clemson for that matter. You focus on the bad fans of other teams and only the good fans of your team. It's all the same and the worst of the Clemson fans would have been just as awful and irritating had they won.

OBJ is from a good family, both parents are LSU Grads and professionals. He was always a good character guy until he become a celebrity and got a $100mil contract, then he started acting thug. Many upset re his behavior recently.
LSU allows/encourages former athletes to come back and engage with the program. Many do, help a lot, donate, etc
This is the first known incident of a former athlete causing a problem for O.
There were fake bills scattered around by someone during the celebration.
Joe was simply being honest.
LSU has self-reported and is investigating further.
Cmmc here is very good with NCAA, Mark Emmert is head of NCAA and former Pres of LSU. HIs daughter is married to LSU AD Scott Woodward ">

It's hilarious how people always throw the "thug" tag onto black people that act badly but then say people like Manziel are just "#####" at worst or "troubled" at best.

Off topic, but gotta ask...

I'm guessing you lived on A-9. If so, were you one of the famous "A-9 Bottle Bombers"? My Freshman year (1967) I lived on the back side of A-6, overlooking the dining hall roof. One night, I heard a shout of "Bottle Bombers", followed by a hail of soft drink and beer bottles impacting the roof outside my window. Haven't thought of that in a lotta years!
