Buc-ees

Oct 20, 2022, 8:56 AM

Anyone had the pleasure of visiting this gas station on steroids? It is like a mini-Walmart but better. Their brisket and beef jerky are really good. My wife and I stopped at the one just South of Jacksonville, FL for gas and a soda. We left with a cast iron pot and pan set, a new cast iron grille and an area rug for the house, lol. Not many around but they are slowly popping up around the East Coast. One was just built in Florence, SC and one is being built on I-85 at Exit 178 (Exit 21) between Anderson and Clemson exit. The Country's largest Buc-ees is currently being built in Sevier just outside Pigeon Forge.

Cracker Barrel cares nothing about the quality of their food.

Oct 20, 2022, 7:28 PM

They make 10x’s the amount of money selling the trinkets at the front of the store than they ever would the food. Sure, the food is “ok,” but it’s never not crowded and I can make anything they serve far better.

I think it’s hilarious the TD’s over my opinion of a box store restaurant, lol.

Socialist? That’s actually the dumbest thing you’ve ever posted.

What about good country cookin' insults thee? And, Cracker Barrel is probably one of the VERY few places where you can still buy music by Bread, or Anne Murray, or ........

But, curiously, now that I think of it, I don't ever think I have actually seen any Crackers in a Barrel for sale there. I have found another open and shut lawsuit winner! Thankee, Thankee Vury Much!

Oct 20, 2022, 10:31 AM [ in reply to Re: Buc-ees ]

on I-20 just east of Birmingham has 100 pumps. Their gas or diesel is usually about 20 cents less than others stores in the area. They have a great deal on bagged ice...one dollar for a 20 lb bag!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You would be amazed how fast you can get in & out of a busy Buc-ees

Oct 20, 2022, 10:45 AM [ in reply to Re: Buc-ees ]

I stopped at the one on I-20 just east of Birmingham on July 4th weekend! 100 pumps and everyone had a vehicle. I waited 3 or 4 minutes for a pump, went in the store to grab a brisket sandwich and soda, went to check out and only one person ahead of me! I was back on the road in less than 20 minutes from when I pulled in!

I've been to the one in Florence once, the one in Birmingham about four times. The brisket or pulled pork sandwiches are 8 bucks, but there is over a half pound of meat in it! They have excellent jerky...many varieties! Twenty pound bags of ice are 99 cents...yes, 20 lbs for 99 cents! Gas or diesel is about 20 cents less than stores around them!

They have signs at the door, advertising for workers...lowest starting wages are $18 per hour!

I have driven from upstate SC to Marshall, Texas several times in the past year to visit my son and daughter-in-law. We always stop at the Buc-ees in Birmingham. Gas prices are competitive if not lower than surrounding area. But......the best thing for us is the bathrooms. Hands down the nicest and cleanest bathrooms I have ever visited in my travels. Food is also pretty good with lots of variety.
