Sad and almost morbid is his mother explaining how it happened on a youtube recording. The entire situation is tragic.

What a tragedy. To a young person his family problems must have seemed insurmountable. So very sad.

How tragic, RIP You never know what someone is going through until it is too late. Having two friends go through this and none of us knew when they were about to do it. Only afterwards with holding firearms in their hands did they turn the corner. One heard a song that caused him to put the gun down and the other's wife called out to him to realise he couldn't be so selfish to leave the woman alone after 30 years. They both found joy in living afterwards. Dark days are held inside of people and those really contemplating rarely reach out to their closest friends.

I am a full time therapist and I can tell you this is the hardest part of my job identifying and preventing suicide. A few tips for you and your families. If someone repeatedly jokes about killing themselves they are not joking. If someone who is down a lot starts getting happy out of nowhere and apologizing ask if they are wanting to die. Always support therapy, usually just admitting thoughts to someone safe is enough to start healing.
Most importantly though if someone in your family dies by suicide forgive yourself.

Tough to imagine why such a gifted athlete at only 17 couldnt find some place to stay for such a short bit until he relocated to Atlanta.

suicide by stepping in front of a train is a hard way to go, hard to even think about.

Zachary Winston, the brother of Cassius Winston, Michigan State's leading scorer in hoops, also killed himself a month or two ago by jumping in front of a train.
