Brownell defenders don't give reasons to keep CBB...

They just continue to spew that Neff has made up his mind and Brownell is coming back next year so we need to stop talking about CBB. Not once have they given reasons to keep CBB except that he won more ACC games than ever. What makes CBB better than who we could hire? But can we expound on this and agree that we played more ACC games than we have ever played in the past? Then add the fact that the ACC ranked lower in Conference play than they have in 65 yrs and are listed as 7th in conference play ranking, not even the last in the P5 conferences but below 2 other conferences!
Clemson AD is only delaying the inevitable and that is very frustrating. Let's move on and get it over with. I don't want to see him fired next year when we could get that problem out of the way this year. If Neff makes the right hire, the new enthusiasm would more than pay for the extra buyout? Let's get a mew coach my friends!

And the ACC was NOT down this year. We finished 3rd in the ACC with a double bye going into the tournament.
And beat NC State, an NCAA tournament team, THREE TIMES!!!!!!
And beat Pitt. Another tournament team.
And you want to fire him after this kind of MAGICAL season??
But seriously, he should have been fired years ago.

Haha! Good thing my sarcasm meter works! Pretty sure the ACC was super strong!! Probably going to be so strong that we can't win a single conference game in the future but that would make CBB and Neff really mad!
This is the year to reset but maybe Neff is lost at the party?

I think Brad Brownell is a very good coach. I love tough defense in College ball and coach Brownell focuses on that. Compare that to what? The NBA? Those pros don’t play a lick of defense…bring the ball up court, pass it around until you have an open man to shoot the 3. I hate that and so I don’t watch NBA.
I would love to say that I love college basketball but really what I love is watching Clemson BB. I enjoy following the guys and their development. I can appreciate those who say if Dabo can bring Clemson a NC then why can’t CBB?
I’ve said it before and will say it again: Are you a Clemson fan? Do you support the team? I really hate seeing comments on here criticizing the coaching and even the players, particularly when someone decides to transfer.
Get a life!
What does it mean to be a Clemson fan? To rag on the team or coaching staff when they lose? To cheer on when Clemson wins regardless of circumstances?
I say, just support the team, the school and don’t think that your purpose in life is to think that your complaining will lead to national championships in every sport. It won’t.

I was a greyshirt on the the wrestling team and I was on the water skiing team my freshman year. Pretty sure I am a Clemson fan. I have relatives that still have records at Clemson andy record is puking more Harcombe foody freshman year than any other student!

I remember the players being very upset when Tommy Bowden was fired. Who can forget the tears streaming down James Davis face? The players loved Bowden. Regardless, a coaching change was needed then and a coaching change is needed now.

Thanks for this post.
Rather than go into things as you have done, I will compare … compare Clemson with my many Michigan friends … and Michigan does not measure up well at all. As much as I love the Wolverines (I do), the fans have a disgusting propensity to call for a coach firing after almost any loss. When the loss is unexpected (Appalachian State) it is understanding to want to fire the coach, but basically any loss and the chorus starts. It’s nauseating.
I prefer the attitude at Clemson.

Brad is the William Westmoreland of coaches. He just needs a little more time, a few more players, more facilities, more support from the home team fans and then success is inevitable.
Except it isn’t.
Defending Brownell’s tenure and asking for more patience is not reasonable at this point.
He had a decent year this year, won some battles and yet inexplicably had some major defeats against inferior opponents.
By retaining Brad, Clemson Basketball will be stuck with no expectation of sustained success.

A change needs to be made while we still care enough to make our dissatisfaction known. If they wait too long, they will find it very hard to win back any faith in the program and there will be decades in the wilderness like after they fired Danny Ford.

There is only one person on TNET that really thinks we should keep Brad.
The few others are simply Clemson marketing folk whose job it is to defend any coach who is currently employed with Clemson no matter how bad or good.

You clearly don't know your history.
Bill Foster took us to the Final 8. Back when the ACC was absolutely the best in the country with Dean Smith, Lefty Dreisell, Terry Holland, Norm Sloan, were among the top coaches in the country. His winning % is less than Foster, Barnes, Ellis, and Purnell against much weaker competition.
So what exactly has he done better? More wins because we haven't had an AD with balls to fire him and expect more. But also, more losses in our history. More losses to terrible teams we should beat every time we play them. 2 NCAA tournaments in 13 years with his own players. That's more than any coach has accomplished? Yeah, right.
