Honestly not sure we win that game without him. If that 3-1 ship to phil carry ratio we have seen all season doesn’t get reversed now, something is bad wrong.
So happy he got the chance to show what he can do and took it.

As in coaching. The first zero-penalty game since the 1952 Gator Bowl. I think the 'lights came on' for the staff as much as it did for the players yesterday. There was really only one series the entire day in which I would question the playcalling, and it looked to me that we might have simplified the blocking scheme just a tad to produce the rushing and pass protection results we got. Guess we'll see what it looks like moving forward, but yesterday was exactly where we should have been all year and most likely sitting at 9-0. We've won the stats every week with the exception of shooting ourselves in the foot. To me, THIS is the most frustrating thing from the entire 2023 season.
HONESTLY, I still wouldn't be thinking this was a natty-caliber team because we do have holes and weaknesses, but we damnsure wouldn't be hearing all the noise around the program like we've endured all season.

The cover 3 podcast guys were talking about our game on their recap last night, said there were 5 straight ND possessions in the second half where they started behind their own 15 and failed to get past their own 30, they’d punt, then we punted right back.
Winning w defense, field position, and opportunities from turnovers. It’s the Iowa gameplan, and until we get some playmakers on offense at basically every position, it may be our formula for winning.

Yes. Best punting game I can recall. I agree the blocking looked different. I wish I knew why.
Team played with fire. Defense played with intensity all game and got better as the game went on.
I was wrong earlier this season. Mafah is clearly the best back and it isnt close.

Going forward #7 needs to get 65% of the carries. Ship is a good change of pace back, but Maf really opened my eyes yesterday as to how good he can be if given the touches.
