Thanks for the confirmation. I pretty much already thought so several months ago, like I think any Braves fan did.

Give me David Ross, DeRosa, or Schumaker. But I really would love to see whoever they hire, bring in Ron Washington and Eric Young back as coaches.

I don’t doubt him. He’s a tough old dude, but sometimes you gotta listen to your body. The Braves lost a lot when he left.

Chipper please!! I mean, these retread managers in professional sports is boring. Give me a player who was ultra competitive. Someone who would call out loafing and teach team play. Of course if Chipper were named manager the great Acuna's days would be numbered. Many former Braves have been outspoken about his play and attitude at times.

I personally like Acuna, but the Braves should have already traded him considering how many gaps they have on this team. I guess they think they can just run it back out with the same problems they’ve had the last two seasons and get a different result.

No way you trade Acuna. You go get a great starter or two in FA , find someone who is up and coming as a manager and go win the NL East ! Braves have great offense ...just need the pitching to be scored up and solid. Not a big ask. But in no world do you part ways with RA jr.

We are talking about the Braves. They aren’t ponying up for FA frontline starters. If they aren’t paying up, the only trade capital they have of any real value is Acuna. The farm system is bled dry. The offense is too streaky (look at the last two seasons - 2022 was an anomaly).

Health has been the issue, position players in 24, awful start in 25, then the whole staff goes down for most of the season. Adding Kim, getting the staff back, a healthy Riley, and whatever they can add this offseason will help. I think this season was a one off and they will be back strong with a new guy, hopefully younger as manager.

They weren’t any better last season. I hope I’m wrong, I just continue to see bargain hunting for pitchers and hitters who aren’t consistent. Don’t even look at the bullpen.

The bullpen is just like the line up, extremely streaky. They might be bargain bin shopping for pitchers, but they over paid for Murphy, maybe even Riley, at least Olson stays healthy. Snitker was lucky that they were hosting the All Star game this year, otherwise he would’ve been canned during one of the 7 game losing streaks we had.

I think they reset the luxury tax and will be spenders this offseason. They need a starter, more pitching depth, a close, unless ReyLo fills that. I think they’ll go with another OFer to make the DH more fluid. You can give Ronald days off and get Profar’s glove out of there some.
Profar Olson Acuna Baldwin Riley Ozzie (assuming his wrist is ok) HS Kim MHII DH?
This lineup when healthy has always had the potential and has shown itself to be the best out there. It’s always health.
I’d like to see them trade for Cease from SD. A southern boy from GA.
It’s going to be interesting after seeing Clemson, I’m already counting down the days until April.

Kim will probably opt out of his deal and become a free agent, Cease will be a free agent after the season, since he’s represented by Boras, I don’t see ATL pursuing him.

Kim will make 16 on his player option. He’s not guaranteed someone will offer more. He’s had injuries and his WRC+ was only 91 this season with his defense showing regression. He’s best friends with Profar, so that helps. I think he’s a great fit for the Braves.
Didn’t realize Cease will be a FA. Maybe they go sign him. If Kranitz stays, he works magic on pitchers and Cease could be an ace.

I hope you’re right and Kim chooses to stay, it was nice having a shortstop that could actually hit a baseball. I think he might want a couple of more years on a deal then the one or two he has on this one. Bichette is the big name on the market and maybe Trevor Story too. I’d wouldn’t get any hope at signing Cease, after the collapse the Mets had, I’m sure their owner will make starting pitching a priority with him and Gallen at the top of the list.

The SS market besides Bichette is weak and that scares me. And yes it was awesome having a SS that could hit. Allen was as miserable watch hit as any everyday player I’ve seen. I still feel like Kim stays.

If they spend I’ll be pleasantly surprised. I only see two consistent hitters in that lineup - Acuna and Olson. Riley is close but can’t seem to get over the hump. Ozzie could be but he seems to be banged up all the time now. Baldwin is still young so the jury is out. Same with Harris but dang is he either ice cold or blazing hot (his cold streaks last much longer).
I agree with you on their needs but I would add a shortstop (I dont think Kim is exercising his player option) and a high quality OF (not just any placeholder). Problem is the Braves 1) won’t spend in free agency to fill the spots or 2) don’t have a farm system with enough prospects to get what they need.
