Why not give the burn Brownell posts a rest for one night?
I recently watched a football replay of the FSU game from 2019. Clemson was up 28 points and in scoring position with seconds to go in the half. The team lined up to go on 4th and short. Then took a timeout and lined up for a field goal. Potter shanked it. Dabo chewed him for about five minutes as the camera followed him. Walked away and came back to chew him some more. I also remember the ACC champ game against UNCheat, where the networks critized Dabo for going way overboard. And no, I don't compare Brownell to Dabo. The point is, all coaches chew their players, sometimes in public where it can be seen. And PJ had at least 3 super dumb fouls (I do not count the bogus and obvious Laetner flop job that finally got him tossed), and missed about 3 nearly unmissable layups for a 6' 10" guy down the stretch just to allow it to be close.
For those who have played sports, I doubt you got through it without being chewed by a coach.
Advocating getting rid of Brownell is a reasonable argument. I would not be surprised or have a grievance if he was. But there are other things that can happen when you pull that trigger. Will everybody that is calling for his head now give his replacement at least four years to achieve the desired record? Or will the same people be conducting the fire Coach X campaign on this board?
Clemson is a relatively small school seen by most good hoops players and coaches as podunk nowhere and it has always been hard to sell to players, and hard to get and keep good coaches. Not so in football historically. What if new coach candidate is choosing between Clemson and another school in a bigger city, even assuming Clemson can offer similar pay. These boards are easy to access. Is it just possible that other school would not show that candidate the grousing and venom that is on this board? I am pretty sure that school would.
Why not enjoy the win and give it a rest. As much as I'd like to see it before I die, it is doubtful CU will win the Natty this year against the likes of Purdue or the like. Brownell's scalp will still be available. Why not enjoy the moment?
