Said he thinks the strength of this team right now is the depth and the 3 rotated bigs it can play: Nick Davidson, Carter Welling, and RJ Godfrey. Davidson is just a big who really is a good basketball player who does everything well. Carter Welling is like PJ Hall as far as an athlete and can do things inside and out and is a really good on defense. RJ is an athletic big that helps on the boards and defense who has been a great example as a leader. Because of those three guys will continue to run the high-low game they run the last few years.
He likes the guards and potential of the young guys. Ace Buckner and Zac Foster are two of the better young guards he has had. Thinks fans will really like Chase Thompson who was a star QB in high school and knows the game and is a good athlete inside. ( Sounds like he loves his potential) He said Ace Buckner is really a go getter and hungry. Zac Foster plays with good speed for a first year guard. Those three freshmen are high level first year players.
Dillon is a leader and his shooting just keeps getting better. He sounds excited about the potential of this team.

If we had a forward facing mindset we would've let Brownell walk and hired Will Wade.
NCST beat us to the punch and we will rue the day we passed on him.

Why do you dump on football but fail to see basketball has done so much less than football.
What do we have in 16 years for basketball? Two sweet 16s and a final 8? That’s not nearly good enough.

Where just a few loyal souls support one of the most solid basketball programs in the country. Have you checked the history of the program? No one has done what Brad Brownell has done at Clemson. The Clemson men's basketball job is like the South Carolina football job. Both are nearly impossible. But Brownell has refused to listen the haters/Lunatic Fringe and has built a program Clemson can be proud of.

Brownell has also done what no one at Clemson has done. Never win the ACCT. And no one has had more chances than Brownell.

He ended his season on two straight losses ring ding dong. You’re really scraping bottom these days coot.
He also lost an ultimate glue guy Dillon Hunter who hasd one of the best anyltics ratings in college basketball when he was in the starting lineup last season to an injury in the ACCT.
Brad Brownell has had the third best record in the ACC the last 3 years. Made an Elite 8, and then battled the whole season with Duke and Louisville to challenge for the ACC regular season championship, but then flamed out because a couple of key injuries late in the post season. Ian Schieffelin also reinjured his back in Louisville game in the ACCT.
Look I love football and are great winning history. Dabo is going to figure these things out and win on the ultimate level again . But Brad Brownell now has Clemson relevant in basketball. Why do you think the team was selected for events like the Jimmy V Classic this season, and the Maui Classis next seasons the Tigers have a good program now? Who cares if it took him 15 years. He is doing it now.
They are showing signs of competing for the ACC. Remember 18-2 would normally have been a regular season conference championship. It was extraordinary they battled with Louisville the whole conference season just 1 game out from finishing 1st to Duke. Duke had one of the best teams in ACC recent history. Remember, how do you to expect Clemson to win the ACC now when they don't even get the amount of revenue sharing that the other schools are getting for basketball?
Yes, making some of that up with NIL, but maybe the best response would be to keep stacking NCAATs together and will eventually get more revenue sharing and NIL, then you will fully make up the difference to challenge for more ACCT championships in the near future. This is those the most relevant they have been since Oliver Purnell's 7th season. Now they have the funding needed to keep consistently winning.

I wish we’d support basketball. Instead we basically gave Brownell a lifetime contract after losing to McNeese St. Not a peep about that but half the board is ready to fire Dabo.

You forgot to mention Brownell breaking virtually every single regular season record in Clemson basketball history last year coming off of a 2nd ever Elite Eight appearance.
27 wins - School single season record 18 ACC wins - School single season record 9 ACC road wins - School single season record 15 ACC double digit wins - School single season record 43-17 ACC record in the past three seasons.
Not to mention:
- Only Clemson coach to win in Chapel Hill (Done it twice) Clemson finished ranked in back to back seasons for only the second time in School history this past season.

To be fair, it goes both ways. Judge says the ACC is weaker than it has been. That's correct. So has basketball. Our 2 wins in Chapel Hill have been against awful UNC teams. He may have decent numbers, but he wasn't facing the ACC Prunell did. And the longevity of average play inflates the numbers.

The first win in Chapel Hill in 2020 was against a bad UNC team, I’ll give you that. But the 2024 win was against a 29-8 team that went to the Sweet Sixteen, finished #7 in the AP poll, and only lost 3 conference games that season. So your point is objectively wrong

That's fair. I remember them losing 2 big games early and rebounding back. Point stands they were not the UNC of old regardless of having a decent record in a very bad ACC. Nothing we would have faced in 2007

Here is the proof when Dillon Hunter was in the starting lineup how high the anyltics were. And again was lost to injury in the ACCT. Link:

No talk of dallas thomas? I know brownell still thinks he needs to add weight.
Great to hear on foster and ace. A backcourt of Dillon hunter, Jestin Porter, Butta Johnson, Zac Foster, and Ace Buckner is going to be deep and strong if this is true.
Can't wait to see the high low game with Godfrey, welling, and Davidson. We have to stay healthy there.

He likes Dallas Thomas but wasn't any questions about him today. Think Thomas fits in that battle at the 3 with Wahlin and Butta Johnson. That is the position where the depth is going to come in because all those guys are going to play.

As much as you liked Del, the two young freshmen Top 55 recruit Zac Foster, and Legacy Ace Buckner are better.
