Bold predictions for this season

1. There will be a lot more explosive plays in the running game this yr than any season since Spiller left. This is the result of the combination of the following factors: (a) We have explosive backs in Etienne and Dixon. (b) Feaster has dropped some weight to increase his speed and quickness. (c) We have bigger, more physical bodies in our receiving core which will improve downfield blocking turning 5 yd gains into twenty yd plus gains. (d) Our improved down field threat in the passing game (see details below) will uncrowd the line of scrimmage and give more open space for runners. (e) Using Adam Choice's increased bulk and power to hammer and pound the linebackers on short yardage plays will tend to soften up the opposing LB core so that by the middle of the game they are a step slower to fill holes allowing our faster backs to break off big runs. (f) We should have an improved offensive line this year which will help both the passing and the running game. (g) With another yr's experience, KB should be able to run the HUNH faster which gets more plays in the game and further wears the opposing team down at the end. A tired team gives up a lot more explosive plays. In Trevor's case, since he ran a similar offense in HS I can only assume that he will run the HUNH at a rather fast pace also.
2. With the extreme talent of our d-line we will average 12 TFL's per game and 6.5 sacks per game.
3. Because of the improved depth of talent our special teams will produce more big plays. In a lot of games our special teams players will be more talented than the opposing teams starting offensive or defensive starters and our punt returners and kick returners will be elite.
4.Our QB play will be much better that last yr because of: (a) TL's overall talent. (b) An overall improvement in KB's play. (c) An improved wide receiver core. (d) Better pass protection from our o-line and backs.
5.Isaiah Simmons will emerge as a star as a replacement for Dorian O'Daniel.
6.The defense will have at least 6 pick sixes during the season because of the combination of: (a)Our extreme QB pressure and Venable's ability to confuse opposing QB's. (b)The long arms of our defensive linemen tipping balls(and in Austin Bryants case, the ability to one hand catch balls). (c)The speed and athleticism of our DB's and LB's.
7.Our downfield passing game will be explosive because of: (a)The improved QB play(see above). (b)The development of Tee Higgins. (c)The addition of Justyn Ross. 8.My final and least bold prediction is that Hunter Renfrow will have an outstanding senior yr and will catch 4 more TD's in the playoff's setting an NCAA record that may never be broken.
I welcome your comments and additions or disagreements!

out. I agree with a lot you are saying. Six pick sixes is a lot but it is possible. I think overall this team is extremely balanced and our second string is really a 1B at a lot of positions. It's going to be an exciting season.

I would add that we win the National Championship and are crowned The Greatest Team in the Multiverse.

Well, I just took that part for granted. It didn't really seem like a bold prediction so it didn't make the list-LOL!

Good points.
* TEs should help in the passing and running game - particularly with blocking at the point-of-attack and keeping the LBs and safeties honest and at home... and hopefully even some shovel pass action on motion.... behind a fake Adam Choice dive play would be a good way to do it.

Showed the template for avoiding sacks against our D-Line. For sure, other teams have taken notice.

Kent St didn't really care about whether they won or lost- it was just a big cash grab for them. Other opponents (especially conference foes) can't just concede the game when they get behind early. Because of our increased explosiveness teams we will score early and often-forcing other teams to throw more often and get sacked more often. The further they get behind the more they will be forced to throw, thereby running our sack total up exponentially!
