The starting 5 going in to next year will be very fluid

we really need to sign Junior Etou, a 6'8, 230 top 100 PF. We're in good shape but a lot of competition. PG will be a battle between Hall and Filer with Hall holding the edge. Will we see Roper transitioned there? 2G, Coleman returns and Rooks comes in, and Roper still here. Alot of depth in the backcourt. SF, K.J. is an obvious starter. Ajukwa comes in and Blossomgame can play here. PF and C are the real question marks. Sullivan will be the front runner at PF with Blossomgame pushing him hard, and hopefully a recruit or 2. Nnoko and Smith will man the pivot. Player development will be huge this off season. Nnoko needs to become a competent big man. We don't need him to score a ton, but he will need to provide quality D and rebound. Same for Smith. Set the screens and hit the offensive boards. Sullivan has shown some flashes the last few weeks. He's undersized but has the ability to step out and hit a jumper and put the ball on the floor. Same for Blossingame. Honestly, what we could really use is a big to transfer in who can play immediately. A guy who graduated in 3 years who is stuck behind someone elsewhere. Feel really good about the backcourt and wing.

those are the only two positions in question. I don't see Blossomgame as a pf. He and KJ will split time. I'm afraid we're in a world of hurt next year at 4 and 5.

Think you nailed it, we will be deep at 1-2-3

and don't take that to mean deep with highly talented guys. I just mean a lot of serviceable bodies.
Then at 4-5..........that not a pretty picture. You almost have to play a 3 at 4. Not for any good reason other than we don't have much other choice.
And for the record, Milton really is a tall 3 who has been forced his entire career to play 4 because we don't have big men. If he played at an elite school he would of been a 3 and I think his career would of been much better.

3. Could never guard on the wing. Not a good ball handler either. That's why he plays 4

Blossomgame will have to play 4 next year

it's where he played in high school. He probably winds up a 3 down the road, but next year he'll need to play inside. From what I hear he's added some weight. He has the hops to play inside. Coming in he was raw in his perimeter skills, so that will still be an area of development. We'll use him where he's comfortable, as a pick and pop 4

He'll get abused inside in the ACC. If Sullivan can't get it done, we're gonna have to go small and play a perimeter game.

How do you play a perimeter game when you have shooting issues?

Blossomgame can shoot. Roper has proven lately that he can shoot, too. Hall can penetrate, hen either take it to the hoop or kick it out.
I'd rather see Sullivan and Nnoko step up and give us an inside presence, but I really don't see that happening. We're gonna need KJ and Blossomgame on the court a lot, which is going very small.

Blossomgame at 4. Yes, it will hurt us against a bruiser at PF, but Sullivan can't guard that type either. Will also create major match up problems for other teams if Blossomgame can hit from outside. Huge off season for sullivan. He has some skills, but like Milt, just not sure he's physical enough to play inside or quick enough to play outside. kind of a tweener. Really need Junior Etou!

technically, KJ would be playing 4. In reality, we'd be 1, 2, 3, 3, 5.

played there his whole life? Regardless, we need 1-2 bigger bodies. I noticed the kid that hit the game winning homer yesterday is a juco kid. Why in the heck can't we sign juco kids in basketball or football? For a basketball program like ours, we need those types. Heck, Cliff Ellis lived off of them. Derrick Forrest, Kirkland Howling, Chris Whitney, Marion Cash, Larry Middleton. Barnes had one his first year who didn't play much. Not sure how you would go about courting transfers but we could use one. The kid from Michigan who chose Maryland over us really screwed up. He'd be starting at 4 next year here

physical of the two. In reality, they'd both effectively be 3s. Sullivan is the only 4 we'll have on the roster.
I definitely agree about the jucos. With the two new curricula, we should be able to fit a few in.

Roper can shoot at times, but I would not rely on Hall. He has been a turnover machine for most of the ACC season.
I hope everyone is right on Blossomgame, but I think a lot of people are putting too many eggs into the basket of him being the answer to our offensive problems.

Answer to our offensive problems next year

at least on the perimeter. Return of Coleman. Additional maturity for Filer, KJ, Roper and Hall. Insert a great shooter in Patrick Rooks. Blossomgame is not a savior, but he's athletic and skilled and the extra year to mature physically with the red shirt will help him. To be successful next year we really need Nnoko to be a presence on the boards and defensively. His offense is going to come slowly.

I like what I have seen out Nnoko defensively. The offense will come along with his coordination, but man that guy has broad shoulders. He has the frame to put on some good weight.
I think next year the development of Josh Smith will be bigger for our success. He did hold his own at FSU when we had sudden foul trouble. Nnoko will have games in foul trouble so Smith will have to come in to play D and grab some rebounds. We still need at least 1 true big man in this year's recruiting class though.

Nor do I. We may wind up going with a really small lineup, basically three guards, KJ and Nnoko.
