Done. The SW side of the island will be decimated by this hurricane. 180 mph winds with gusts over 200 MPH.

This is a once in a lifetime storm not seen by Jamica for 100 years... This isn't some run of the mill tropical storm.
Would rather help folks rebuild rather than spending money and good men on pointless wars or arming countries that would wish us ill.

True. It just seems that the US is broke and there is always a natural disaster brewing in the Caribbean every few years.

This one is not your run of the mill cane. this thing is setting records. some places are reporting gusts up to 220-230 mph.
I wish we didn't have so many folks with their hands in the till but I'm fine with my tax money going to legit rebuilding projects and fostering good relations with a nation close to ours that way rather than back end shady deals we've seen elsewhere.
Helping folks here and abroad during natural disasters and people helping people is one of the very few things I can say I feel ok with my tax money going towards.
I hope and pray the people of Jamica get the legit help they need and it's not a bunch of outside grifters using these peoples terrible disaster for their own gain.

If there's such a thing as a perfect hurricane, this is it.
This is going to be horrible for the poor people in Jamaica, and possibly elsewhere in the Caribbean as well. They are going to need a lot of help down there.

I looked to see if their trees may be more flexible than ours. Looks like many would be, but they seem to have a LOT of sycamores, which were the first to fall in our yard during Helene.

Speaking of mean...
In Kingston, officials warned residents of the surrounding area to watch out for crocodiles that might be displaced from their habitats by flooding.
At least we didn't have crocodiles in our yard after Helene, just a couple of neighboring dogs who suddenly found huge gaps in their fences.

last night with our 2 main contacts. My wife has been there multiple times and she says there's almost nowhere to run on the many parts of that island - and many of the structures LOOK like they have no chance against such winds. Praying also that past experience has helped them be prepared...
