Bad Neighbor

Neighbors here have in large trucks and machinery today to improve their lawns.
I like that. Walking past looking at beauty lifts my spirits.

Well I am not actually walking right now as my Achilles is in failure.
I am on the porch with excellent beer and Sarah Brightman "thinking" as to being active.

My goal not long ago was to use the weed eater and trim back some of the things in my yard most (not me) see as weeds.
I will heal and get to it before the HMO calls in the cops (or not).

One plus is that "to be offended" one must trespass as I have no road view (or even a lawn mower).

Can’t wait for the goldenrod to start blooming. It’s a weed you see in the low country on road shoulders. A bright yellow. Yellow jasmine is about the first flowering thing in early spring. Also on road shoulders. Golden rod, about the last. Lot of beauty in lots of weeds

From my weeds class many years ago ... a weed is only a plant growing where you don't want it

I learned that from Clemson Professors.
A nice tomato plant or a rose bush in a corn field is a weed.

Cleome is a native SC plant killed off as a weed by most.
It is an annual that can reseed.
I collect those seeds in the Fall and hope to raise a couple every year.
This "weed" is beyond beautiful.

We transplanted some Turks Cap from my wife's parent's house for remembrance. Didn't take but a couple of years to find out it can become invasive. It's better planted in pots for control.

At least we don't have Kudzu or Bamboo. These would be a nightmare.

I have found wisteria to be more destructive than beautiful- takes over and weighs down trees

I disagree.
If in the wrong place any plant is ??
I lost my old style SC ones in the fire.

The Jap versions are better for most.

No plant is invasive in a yard. Any decent gardener can deal with that.

Here we have fireweed. Renowned for its' medicinal properties and a symbol of resilience. It is one of the first plants to return after forest fires. When firewood turns to cotton summer is soon forgotten. You can count the numbers of weeks of summer left by the rows of buds yet to bloom. Fireweed jam is also delicious.
