Available HC

One former HC out there that is a proven winner is Pat Fitzgerald. He did things at Nothwestern University that nobody else has been able to replicate The allegations against him were proven to be false and he was well compensated for the way his firing was handled. He has had time and opportunity to study, visit, and learn how to navigate the portal and NIL. He was always a good evaluator and developer of players. He was able to get more out of his players than their āstar rating āindicated. He would be a great hire!

Well, maybe Dabo will bring him on as a proven assistant coach with experience. Heck, he could replace at least 15 of the inexperienced friends and family by himself .. he did great at NW ..

Idk what position he would be suited for. Maybe an analyst or position assistant to prove himself.
His overall record is meh and his last couple years were atrocious.
He did have a few great years sprinkled in but thereās nothing there to suggest he would be a great HC,DC,or OC today.

This means one of two things
1) You mean hire for Clemson head coach. Therefore you had just put down the bong.
2) You mean hire for OC or DC, which would then be something Iām not interested in. Because Nothwestern is below mediocre and Fitzgerald didnāt change that.

To clarify my post. Iām not on the bong, but on the pain meds. I believe he would be a great hire for a team that needs to be rebuilt and stabilized, as a HC. As a DC, he would be elite in comparison to most others that are available. He would fit the mold that we have at CU, but we are not looking as far as I know. As a HC, I would have to disagree with some of my fellow posters. I think he would be outstanding given the resources that a P5 school, wanting to win, would make available to him. My opinion, agree to disagree. On to Louisville. GO TIGERS š

If you look at the numbers...

he was at Northwestern 17 seasons, and only averaged 6 wins per year. While he did have three 10-win seasons (2012, 2015, 2017), he average just 4.5 wins per season his last four years. His overall record as a head coach was a paltry 110ā101 (5-5 in bowl games) which might explain, at least in part, why he has been a volunteer assistant coach at a local Chicago-area private high school since 2023.

All accurate statements. Just remember this was at NW. Before the portal, NIL , unlimited transfers from school to school and lowering of academic requirements to get into NW. Nobody wanted this job and he took it. He had the chance to leave after those 10 win seasons you mentioned but stayed loyal to NW where he was an All-American LB, assistant coach, and Honor graduate. Forgive me for being nostalgic. Those are qualities that used to mean something. I guess Brian Kelly, Hugh Freeze, Jimbo Fischer and the other unemployed HCs are the current measuring sticks for a successful hire as HC. Iāve said enough. Have a good afternoon. Finally starting to feel like football weather š

I was going to point this out. No history of winning and Pat Fitzgerald MADE them somewhat respectable. I enjoyed watching his teams there to be honest. If Dabo snagged him up I wouldn't be mad.
FWIW - NORTHWESTERN is like the Kansas State of the B1G. For those that don't know that means REALLY, REALLY bad historically...Think SCAR but even worse though I think NU does have more B1G division titles than Carolina has SEC division titles š. They own the longest losing streak in CFB history at 34 games.

We dont need a head coach. We have one of the best. We can take him as an assistant.
