"Good morning"? I see some say it every time someone new joins.
I do it exactly zero times, unless directly spoken too.
Is that socially wrong?

Depends on the call:
If friendly, we might spend 5 minutes of chit chat.
If more business and I'm the leader of the call, I wait until a plurality join, then do 1 'good morning' and get down to business.
If only a participant, then stay quiet.

"I'm going to wait 5 more minutes to let everyone get on then we'll start." followed by 10 minutes of good mornings.
I always say "Thank you for being on time. I want to respect your schedule. Let's get started."
Punishing the people who are on time is one of my biggest peeves in person or virtual.
Do that a few times and only the incorrigible are habitually late.
But because of that it stresses me out when I'm late.
