Are our best receivers just taller than their DBs?

Dec 3, 2015, 7:16 PM

I was internet talking with a few folks who get more into numbers and stats like I used to. They are expecting Leggett, Peake, and Cain to be big able to make a big play or two at the right time because the majority of UNC's backs are barely 6 feet and many are and inch or so less. One even thinks we might have a few tricks up our sleeves with Garrett Williams or McCullough to take advantage of height.

Also some of our secondary height works to our favor against them although they have some tall hands too.

Anybody already have those put together do I don't have to dig through rosters and depth charts? Agree that is a key difference?

He can tackle but not the biggest guy they have

is he? I still think we may have a significant height advantage.

I think Macenzie Alexander is only 5'10"......

A good cover corner doesent have to be too tall, but they do have to be amazing athletes. Our safeteys are huge though. Not sure how much you can take away from their cornerbacks being shorter than our WR's because Mac.A has been schooling taller WR's the last two years now.

Height isn't everything

But like you say athleticism is the only way to make up for. Never heard that the Heels secondary was all that athletic.

Oh I think we'll torch them like Mountaineer boys do couches

....but just stating DB's dont have to be big to be effective. We'll probably get most of our yards on the ground though....not that we couldnt get it through the air as well. But their run D is suspect.....and if Wayne Train can keep our D off the field....why not?
