that are the new portal rules, and the big time bucks that some skill position players are or will be getting through the NIL while linemen toil for nothing, maybe Dabo, who seems to be a very principled guy, says I'm a college football coach not a semi-pro one. I'm out of here.

I would hate to see it happen but couldn't necessarily blame him if he stuck to his convictions and did this.

The problem with your idea is that Dabo never said he didn't like the concept of NIL.

Dabo said he didn't want college players to earn a salary and be paid to play.

He is for the players learning about the business world and marketing and finding a way to better themselves based on their merits.

I do believe he said at one point he wished it was tied to graduation instead of being instant payment, but he never said he didn't like the concept of NIL.

And where would he go. He is not a NFL type coach, so does he take a cut in pay and go coach at a mid America type school where he can develop his players into the type of men he seeks to mold at Clemson. Maybe go to a school like South Florida where he might go undefeated and keep his grogram top 10 every year ,yet not have the pressure of trying to compete against the Big SEC mindset?

Yes, I have thought about it. Dabo does not have to work. I could see him getting pushed to the point of saying “I am done”. I would not blame him either. Dabo appears to love Clemson and is loyal to the university. I can imagine he is pretty frustrated seeing players quit mid season.

...taking a toll on Dabo and our program. I don't think he necessary dislikes the transfer portal goal of a player going where he can maximize his talents and maybe play more, but these guys leaving mid-season are a whole another animal that he didn't count on. I don't think any of us saw this coming.
