Well first of all at this moment there is not a vacancy.
But I also remember the same people now wanting everyone fired also wanted Jeff Scott fired.
And they all cheered when Garrett Riley was hired.
I will wait and see what Dabo thinks!

False, Dabo already clarified this

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to promote Tony and Jeff. Those guys have been a huge part of our success the last couple of years,” Swinney said. “I will be finalizing the staff here pretty soon. Tony will be calling the plays and he will do a great job with that.”

Jeff Scott was as much of an OC as Matt Luke with his current "Co-Offensive Coordinator" title.

No, JS was one half the partnership, someone had to call the game plan...

which fell on TE, but the OC on the field, making the magic happen was JS and on the headset ready to make calls as he did with Orange Crush to beat Bama the first time.

The article even discusses his ability to make calls, but as he said in tempo he wasn't likely to interrupt the rhythm.

There's dang good reason JS was hired away first, even a year younger than TE.

I don't think Jeff is OK with that. He has kids and knows what the life of a coach's kid is like.

Maybe what we need is a new General Manager.

We need an infusion of difference making talent like we used to have.

Maybe he can help in that area, but we need an experienced hand to lead the group.

This. We had two generational QB's that made an average head coach and staff look good.

Got this guy from the Chargers (worked 20 years in NFL) to work with the GM. Currently on staff.

If you can populate the roster with a dozen 5-star players, these coaches would be fine.

Football is a player’s game. Players have to make plays. Coaching of important, for sure, but I think schemes are much less important than getting great players.

He's never really called plays. Tony Elliot was the play caller and he didn't call plays at South Florida (according to Jason Priester podcast) so the answer would be no.

Maybe as a co-OC as he was last time (he wasn't the play caller, Elliott was). Definitely as WR coach. I think he is an elite WR coach.

Jeff’s a good dude and was part of a great era, but let’s not act like he was dialing up 40-burgers solo. The game’s evolved, and we need fresh ideas, not just familiar faces. You can’t rebuild a 2025 offense with a 2016 mindset.

If we got the whole gang back together.

Money trumps what gave us a recruiting edge at the time.

People are having a hard time coming to grips with reality here. There is no simple fix and it may simply not be fixable.

A lot of Jeff's success was Fla. recruiting ties.

That no longer holds a tenth the weight it did before Covid, as it's no longer about relationships and connections, but how big the check is going to be.
