Any word on who

Is starting in the circle tomorrow against Duke?
I think McCubbin should get the (unexpected) nod. Bring in Millie if Brooke can’t shut ‘em down.
Just a gut feeling. What say you?

I’m guessing it will be Val with the start.

After the way Duke’s bats looked today, I think I would be willing to take the chance in hopes of saving Val for Saturday.

Well there is no need to “save” softball pitchers. Val could pitch both games if that is the direction they decided to go. Heck the BC pitcher went 7 innings Wednesday and another 10 today. If we were looking at a double header that would be a different discussion. That said I don’t expect that Val would start in the circle Saturday if she starts Friday.

The fact that BC’s pitcher was able to pull double duty, yesterday, and against Duke today, is what gives me the feeling one of our other pitchers can keep duke’s bats mostly silent thereby having Val ready for Saturday.
And you do have to consider saving a pitcher when she is an everyday player like Valerie. Hitting 4 or 5 times a game is taxing on the body especially combined with pitching. That’s why you rarely see it.

No need to save pitchers, tomorrow may never come.

I'm hoping whoever the starting pitcher is today at 6pm, he can keep us as far away from the bullpen as possible, hopefully at least give us a full 8 innings without a thought of the bullpen!!!

But I think this bullpen will get it together. These arms in our bullpen are not bad, they simply have been getting rocked as of late. Maybe it is time for them to get it straightened out and perform at a high level. Just in time for tournament/regional baseball.
Go Tigers!!

I don’t know of any injury.
I’m just saying I would try and steal a game in the tournament without having her in the circle after the hitting display Duke put on today.
I know, if you don’t win tomorrow then you don’t play on Saturday.

That's why she pitches tomorrow to hopefully insure a win if she's at 100%. In softball they can pitch 2 or 3 games in a day. My daughter did it and I know Val has early in her career so she could pitch tomorrow and Saturday if needed.

Val hasn’t been “herself” for stretches of this season and other times has pitched phenomenal games (I point to Tennessee and UGA, both loses, as examples), so when she is good can be really good. The problem is “good Val” has been the exception not the rule this season.
I think you go into the final 2 thinking that Spencer is probably the starter if we make the championship (hopefully with the plan to use a new pitcher every time through the lineup). Regan has without question been our best, most consistent pitcher. If Val pitches today and gets through the whole game and wins that is great. That means we still have Millie (and Brook) available.

Yeah it is Millie.
Clemson pulled a fast one…announced Millie started Val. Allows them to bring Millie in later and put Val back at DP (but I think they could do that anyway)
