Caught this under my shed this morning. I'm pretty sure it's a rat snake, but i want to be sure before i take it home to my son. He's been wanting a rat snake real bad.

I hope you're kidding. But just to be sure - it's a timber rattle snake - very poisonous. However, if you're so inclined, it's tasty and the skin can be tanned. Ready for this - it really does taste like chicken, but bonier.
