87 MPH slider at 2600 RPMs on the slider is just sick, that's a major league pitch if he can spot it. MLB pitchers average somewhere in the 2400 RPM range.

He’s already committed. It’s just a matter of when Clemson wants to release it….most players announce a couple days later but wideman and savoie took about 5 days to announce…..

My next question is this. On a scale of 1-10, how big of transfer commitment are we getting? What kind of an impact will he make for this team next year?

If it's Palmer listed above, it would be the best pitching transfer so far. 2.03 ERA pitching against good teams like FSU, Coastal, Oregon, UCLA, etc. and did really well. Never seemed to get a shot, but I'd put him ahead of Simmerson just due to him having experience against the upper echelon of college baseball.

Impact wise, he never went beyond 3 innings in a single game and averaged around 1.2 innings per game. I would imagine Simmerson is the only lock in the bullpen for now, but any of the 3 confirmed + Palmer could be high-leverage guys. Palmer and Sharman are probably going to compete for a starting spot, but with Knaak and Bell having a year with the program as starters might move one of Sharman or Palmer to long relief or setup. My guess for now is Knaak on Fridays, Palmer on Saturdays, and Bell on Sundays, although Bell and Palmer could be interchangeable. Moehler should have the midweek spot locked down unless performances in camp dictate otherwise.
Veasey is more developmental at this point, he's got a fastball that tops at 98 so I think he starts in the bullpen and becomes the closer after this next season.
All in all, any guy who has a wicked slider and top program experience is a good addition.

8.5. Maybe a 9 considering our previous pitching staffs. Could be an awesome setup man but tbh it’s hard to predict what role a pitcher will have. Sometimes starters become closers (Austin Gordon) and sometimes closers become starters (Ryan ammons for a few weeks)
Ya never know if he is gonna be a midweek starter, Sunday starter, long reliever, setup man, closer.

You didn’t say “major”!
Oregon State qualifies as major just as much as Tennessee guys

I’m not putting labels anymore for the sake of morons on here that just want to argue about anything……I still stand by Sharman being major because we lost Darden and Lee and needed a lefty arm

Hopefully Samol comes back strong next year and gives a big lefty arm as well. Bell needs to take the next step next year and hopefully at some point we'll get a glimpse of what Moehler can do when he's fully healthy.

No other updates or news on this situation? I would've thought something would've been said by now if the deadline was yesterday.

Yesterday was no deadline it was just an approximation based on recent announcements….. it will be released when the player and Clemson want to release it but there is nothing to worry about he is already in the bag

So are there any other promising transfer pitchers on the horizon? IMO Tigers are still in need of a couple of quality arms.

TI’s forum has a lengthy rundown of pitchers Belanger has been following. I think Palmer was the last known pitcher to visit Clemson. Maybe things pickup again after the draft? Otherwise, things may have run their course as far as portal acquisitions.

If we don’t end up getting any more portal guys, we’re going to be relying HEAVILY on these freshman arms we got coming in. This year is do or die for Bellanger where he proves whether he is or is not good at his job, because he has to develop guys this year or else it’s gonna be ugly. Hoping EB has that mindset as well

Regardless of whats left, we still have a promising group for next year if everyone that was injured comes back stronger and better. I was hoping by next season a dynamic trio of Knaak, Bell, and Moehler would be the weekend starters or even McGovern, tho I still like him for long inning relief if needed. We'll see how it goes, but it still falls on the offense to be more reliable to me, we were so bad at the plate last season that it almost required every pitcher to be #### near perfect every outing.
