Angry Squirrels

I don't know who posted about angry squirrels on Clemson Campus, but I think one graduated and relocated to my yard.
I was walking across the yard and I kid you not a squirrel threw an almost empty peanut butter jar at me from the tree above.
It landed at my feet and I whirled around to the road expecting some dolt having thrown it out the window of a car. But there was no one around at all....I look up and that tree rat smiled and shimmied away. It may not have been a smile because I am not sure if squirrels can smile but he looked proud of himself none the less.
I picked it up and he had gnawed through the PET to get to remnants of rancid peanut butter inside. It must have been from a neighbor as we don't buy peanut butter in that size jar. I put it in my trash can - so we will see if he can get it back out.
Maybe it was not intentional, maybe as he was basking in the glow of satisfaction of gnawing through to the goodies, I just startled him and he flinched a throw like Fredo Corleone trying to shoot a gun.
I will likely never know the truth, but I will be watching for that Bushy tailed bugger in the future.
yall be careful when you leave campus too.....

Just took down 3 yesterday with my 12 GA. Won't allow them in my yard. If you think a 12 GA is overkill, it's necessary with my vision.

I agree. 12 GA works great on tree rats.

with my dad's twenty gauge shotgun. I nailed a flying squirrel, and that's when I found out the gun was loaded with SLUGS. All that was left of the squirrel was fur, four paws, and most of a head.

Sounds like a scene from Caddyshack!
Had a big bag of deer ear corn on trailer for couple days and when I looked at it again half bushel was gone, complete ears. I assumed a coon found it until I saw squirrel carrying them up the tree. I looked up in the white oak tree and base of every big branch had 2-3 ears sticking out. That sucker was planning on a fat winter.

I’ve been spending a lot of time in the woods hunting this fall. Seems like a very heavy year for acorns and a lot more squirrel activity than normal. When I was younger the old timers would tell you this is a sign that the coming winter is going to be more severe than normal….

Whew! I thought you were going to say the squirrels were reacting to global warming and the climate meeting in Dubai! They're getting for Christmas and Winter! lol

Squirrels can get aggressive, as they hiss and throw acorns too! Racoons are bad too!

I was standing in the parking lot on break, talking with another worker who like to hunt. All of a sudden, acorn hit tight in the top of the head. It was funny to say the least and we both got a good laugh out of it. But, i'm a lookin' fer that rat face now.... Got some dumplin's to introduce it to.

I have Squirrels but they are not out and about as in some places. I think it's because i have a Hawk that lives close and they don't stand a chance if running out in the open. Still waiting to see a Hawk grab one of these long bushy tail rats. May have to put trail cams.
