Really seemed like he made a massive misstep trying to go after DeSantis most recently. Anecdotally, a few people I know who I never thought would be anything other than Trumpers pretty much gave him the finger when he did that. He finally seemed like a desperate small man to a lot of his own supporters. This is just more of the same.

Personally, don't care what the numbers say this far out, Trump won't be the nominee.
He has the name recognition right now so of course, the numbers should be strong for him.
I think DeSantis wins the nomination.

If he is the nominee, this could be the first 50-0 election. I really can't see Trump winning a single state in the general.

you may be right, but I suspect not.
Being honest, what qaa it that Trumpwra likes about him in the first place? While there was obviously something about his personality that held a charm for some, this was hardly what won him the support of so many. The never Trumpers within the Republican party and the dems are beyond stupid for not seeking an honest answer to this.
Personally, I really don't care for the guy, but unless someone shows up that convinces people s/he will promote policies similar to that which Trump promoted and is also independent enough to not be beholden to the pressures of party politics then Trump is still going to have the ear of a lot of people.

Personality isn’t what keeps DJT popular … policies do
Feb 16, 2023, 12:20 AM
[ in reply to dunno about that 30% number. ] |

I am admittedly concerned that the endless narrative from the entire ‘political insider’ class … and their minions in the MSM … of Trump being unelectable is eroding the confidence of many otherwise Trump supporters.
I know several people who had been (and still are) turned off by Trump’s personality who nevertheless had strongly supported him because of his policy initiatives, and how he managed to keep the country intact during the Coronavirus outbreak in 2020.
I am among those Trump supporters … he is the first such true America first / political royalty ehhh candidate since RossPerot. His personality has always been annoying. I despised The Apprentice. Went to Taj Mahal once in the early 1990’s and thought it garish … just like Trump.
But it’s all about policies and how the country is run. Trump is like Norman Schwarzkopf; win the battle now, then apologize to the enemy when … well … no apology is needed. I loved Trump for having the stones to impose big tariffs on imports from P.R.China, and in so doing raising America’s awareness in the precarious trajectory towards strategic weakness in both military and high tech industries from decades of outsourcing to PRC.
No other politician … Republican or Democrat … made this issue as such a key part of their political platform or policy initiatives.
However, several of those who share my reasons for still supporting Trump have been affected by the incessant drumbeat that ‘Trump can’t win again.’ This ‘he can’t win’ drumbeat is eroding support from Trump.
The weaker among Trump supporters are (probably subconsciously) impacted by the desire to not be ‘socially shamed’ for overtly supporting a candidate that their friends have decided can’t win again.
Xxxxxxx
I find it still interesting that very few ‘tired of Trump’ people ever express disagreement with Trump’s policy platforms or of his presidential performance. J6, a matter which is only really understood by a minority of Americans, is about the only ‘presidential performance’ criticism that most non-lefties have of Trump.
Reagardless, the negative PR campaigns against Trump appear to be having an impact. Too bad for the USA.

I'm one of those people who generally liked his policies.

But when he can't help himself but to open his mouth and literally cost the R's control of the Senate, along with supporting candidates that, more often than not got their azzzes handed to them in House races, his policies are a moot point if we are virtually guaranteed to see (D) control of Congress even if he were to win.
Additionally, I don't care how much you like his policies, at most in Trump's perfect world scenario, he has 4 more years as President. For those 4 years he is perfectly willing to toss a grenade at future leadership in the Republican Party, including most recently trying to Kavanaugh DeSantis with a super weak groomer accusation. The man thinks he's bigger than the country or any party at this point, and will be happy to leave things burning in his wake to get those 4 more years. Screw him.

There is no better example than the post-election GA Senate run-offs where couldn't even give the 2 GOP candidates a bit of breathing room on "The Big Lie". Everyone complaining about Biden's first 2 yrs...imagine how different it would have been if there had been a GOP majority in the Senate!

The ones who like his "policies" are the ones that are likely bailing now due to his personal characteristics.
The ones who are still with him like the personal characteristics. That he "tells it like it is," he "puts it to the libs," he's "not a politician," etc. They love it when he calls people names, etc.

I do not love it when he calls people names. If he did it every once in a while and it was funny, okay. But too much is too much.
With that said, if it is Trump v Biden. I'm voting Trump.

It would help if the rational conservatives would hold Trump accountable for his actions. Our system has checks and balances which are suppose to address those concerns, but it's people like you who try to excuse it with "nothing to see here, let's move along". You should have been outraged with the post election antics that took place, especially J6. Not only did Trump try to overturn a democratic election, he summoned and inspired a mob that broke into the Capital with the intent to assassinate elected leaders, and assaulted/injured over 140 officers to do that. And when fellow conservatives actually lay down their partisan values to protect the integrity of the country(LCheney/AKinzinger) people like you chastise and punish them and want the whole thing swept under the rug rather than fully investigate as to what happened so we can learn and prevent something like this from happening again. For the conservatives out there that have shown balls and demanded accountability for what happened, I salute you. For the rest of you, I laugh you.

win the presidency. However, Trump would have been 1000 times better off if he would have just tweeted: "Get real Nikki, nobody is going to vote for T**s Romney"
Instead, this list is weak-sauce and pathetic. The last page has a couple of good points, but that's it. He doesn't even go in on the real problem with her, that she leverages government power to enrich herself and her political allies while screwing the small business owners, like a typical Neocon.
Trump really has lost a step. He's just not as good as he was in 2016.

Good lord. Libertarians are the worst.
They're like religious conservatives (or any stripe!), in that libertarianism is this weird article of faith, even though there isn't a single example of a successful libertarian state in the history of (checking calendar) the world. Not one.
You want a place without a central government and few rules? Welcome to Zomia. And Burkina Faso is just thriving without a government! Yemen's economy is just booming!
Admittedly Libertatia sounded great... but it wasn't a real place.

But yeah, no, you ain't wrong on Musk. Not sure why anyone ever worshiped that guy; he has Bond villain written all over him.
But outside of T-Net as well, it's striking how many people who thought Trump was their lord and savior suddenly are singing another tune now. We'll see if that remains if he wins the primary.

I've said this many times before: I completely get it if someone looked at the options in 2016 and chose Trump. Clinton is trash. I can't fault a person for making that choice.
But that's where it ends, and you were guilty of this. You fawned over Trump and viciously lashed out at people who launched EXTREMELY valid criticism over what was one of the worst--if not the worst--presidencies in modern times. You embraced his poor behavior early on, and mimicked it. I'm not going to do it now, but I can dig through the old posts and find them--the ones that weren't deleted when you threatened people. Do we forget how you threatened Flow with getting him blacklisted by the SC GOP by people you knew because he wasn't supporting Trump in 2020.
You didn't look at his presidency objectively when he was in office; you're only doing it now. You cite him refusing to concede in December in 2020, but you were right there with everyone calling the election BS. You had a post where you were happy a mob was starting to form outside CNN in Atlanta immediately after the election. Even after Trump left office, you still cast doubts on the validity of the election. You gave lip service to Jan. 6.
If you REALLY feel the way you do in this post, you owe a LOT of people here an apology. But I have a sneaking suspicion you're just going to deny it.
Let's see if other people remember this like I do. soccerkrzy®? flow0440?

Apology or not, you were an absolute blind Trump loyalist who lashed out viciously on this board at people who criticized him, crossing the personal line too many times and even getting banned on one occasion. None of us want to hear your "now I don't care for Trump" BS. You were a raging child because of that man, like many others, who thought behaving like him was acceptable, normal behavior.

what anybody thinks about MY opinions. They're mine, like'em or not.
Actually, the only major controversial opinion of mine that I can think of is about 9/11...
NOBODY is EVER going to change my mind about that!

When you actually stick to being nice for a period of more than a month without going off the rails, we'll believe it.

saying you were going to call the Columbia County GOP and have me banned from the party? Maybe I said something on the same level to you, but I sure don't remember anything like that.
Anyways...I read your OP and agreed with most of it...which might be decent proof that your position has shifted, given you have disagreed with just about anything I've posted on Trump.

Threatened to call anyone here and have you banned from anything. You went way over the line in many ways. You crawled back in a hole when it got turned back on you.

Fivehead, you've never seen me complain about getting TD ever, and I'll put money on that. And yeah, you got it turned around on you and you calmed down real quick.
But I see it's the evening which means the meds have worn off and you're about to go full tilt.

and have cried to the mods about my profile. The only reason I ever TD'd you was because you were extremely pro-Trump, and continued to attack me for unwarranted reasons other than I disagree with you politically.
Personally, I don't care about you at all, so carry on with your angry little manchild grudge on me.

me in this thread, but I was tagged by Cata and his directly engaged by saying: "They’ll be waiting a long time for an apology. I’ve still got soccer on ignore and I don’t see eye to eye with Flow."
Notice how he used having me on ignore as a direct reason for not getting an apology...lol.
Apparently nobody on Tigernet knows who I am, because my Tigernet stardom and TigerPulse are how I measure my success in life. Man, if I ever hit 54 and start acting like this on a rival's message board, I'd know I hit rock bottom.

Yeaaaaaah... hovering your profile says you've TD 14 percent of the time, which is over 1,000 times. Compared to my 0 percent. Sad.
So, wait... did you just somehow try to Mange flex me? You really think that's an insult?

I'm sorry I don't stroll over to the Mange to engage in the usual bitching about coaching, complaining about playcalling, posting of "insider information" that never comes true, and complaining about game day experiences. It got old about 15 years ago and hasn't changed much.
You're an odd cat, Coot. Better football talk on the Lounge, anyway.

"Quality people in Trump's cabinet."
That's why he had so much turnover?
Even an accomplished guy like Rex Tillerson was in a job for which he was completely ill-suited.
