Feeling bummed out about the game this morning when I got up - then got a text from our church about a 37 year old man from the church with young kids who died during the night from an apparent heart attack. Then at church I saw my son who opens the service with announcements get so choked up that he couldn’t even get words out to tell what happened. At that point I decided that I am blessed to just be able to be around to watch our team play- win or lose we are fortunate if we are around for the experience.

Prayers for this young man’s family and that is too young to go. That said It’s hard to argue that being alive and in one piece isn’t better than enduring what we saw yesterday. What’s sad is it takes that kind of comparison in order to feel ok about it.

about the outcome of a college football game, ANY college football game, has not got their life priorities in order. And, sadly, real life will remind us all sooner or later what really IS important.
Prayers for the family of that young man who passed away at such a young age. No one is ever really "ready", I suspect. At his age, I am sure he was not even thinking in those terms.

Agreed. A 7 month old baby in our church has a heart condition that the Doctors just informed parents is terminal. Said she could live a few weeks at the most, but could pass away at any time. Even though the parents are huge football fans, bet they don't care what team lost and won yesterday.

for my son for 20 years as the youth minister- a lot of folks stood up to say what he has meant to them and their families. He would have given all that up to have had that young man in the pew this morning.
