The recruiting has improved but even more so the coaching. Because on paper the team was supposed to be improved but this level of jump was not expected yet. I mean they just swept a gamecock team who made the elite 8 two years ago, with many of the same players.
The doubles pairings look great and play together as a team (sign of good coaching) and then you have players like Freshman Victor Markov, who was expected to be lower in the lineup in his first year, but is instead beating an experienced and usually clutch Gamecock player at #3.
Vukadin at 1 has greatly improved and is playing like a top 20 player nationally. Baris of Michigan State who he beat in straight sets is ranked #8 and then he beat the 6th year Thomson of SC who has been a top 10 player for most of his career.
Mesarovic is just routing people on court 5 and setting the pace for everyone.
Obviously still very early in the year and there will be bumps to come with how good the ACC is, but beating two top 20 caliber teams in Mich State and SC recalibrates the expectations for this season.

For a while now and did get them to the elite 8 in 2023. So we still have a ways to go to catch them as a program overall. But I think the direction of the two programs is started to shift for sure.
