I was thinking the same thing, but then we just saw a mid-year 8 year/$93MM extension to retain a coach that's been winning at a school that hasn't consistently been in the CFP mix in the past. Other schools are watching, and they'll continue to toss crazy money at "promising" candidates to prove to their fans that they're serious about football. Most schools will still be disappointed because only 10-15 schools will have really good years any given year, and only one will win a National Championship.

At least Florida and Penn St.'s administration show they want to win, and to heck with the costs. Dabo will get at least one more year. If next season is like this season, which I fully expect, does the Clemson administration have the gumption to make a change? Given that Brownell has never sniffed any kind of championship going into his 16th season, the answer is probably "no."
