I just hope he finds his way and the players pick back up and buy in. Seems like the team lost its way the last half of the season this year. We can only hope for better now since the decision has been made to keep him. Might not be what we wanted, but he's ours, and I will support him.

This is utter bull. He's had most of a decade to turn a program around and maintain competitiveness; instead, we've slipped further behind storied programs such as Wake Forest and Georgia Tech. Keeping Brownell at this point is an embarrassment to the university and to Radakovich.

Coaches over perform and get a new contract. They under perform and get overpaid or bought out. I think you say to Brad - do you want to stay here, and if yes then lets re-work your contract. If he says no - then he is not a team player and has not bought in so best to move on.

I feel sorry for the kids on the team. They deserved a better fate. I wonder how many additional years Brownell got and if conditions for keeping his job are in place. It will take a miracle next year to have a winning record much less make the big dance. Kiss Williamson goodbye.

It's not fair to him or us. Now that Brownell is our coach going forward how in the world can we expect him to be successful here (i.e. recruiting) after what we just put him through?
I wanted Brownell to be let go, but I really do like him as a person and I feel disgusted about how we handled this situation! I feel like we screwed him and our basketball program by not making a descision early.
Well this tells us all we need to know about our administration and the way they view our basketball program.

This makes no sense unless its all about money. Clemson probably has no money to spend on basketball now. To make a worthwhile upgrade, they would need to buyout Brownell, up salary to attract talent, and commit to additional facilities. The Taj Mahal football ops bldg is great, but it shines a bright light on the lack of such a facility for basketball. Yes, Littlejohn was rejuvenated. Yawn. Suppose they told Dabo we cant build the ops facility, but we can make some facelift changes to Death Valley. Yeah... that would wow recruits I'm sure.

It has to be money. Wade saw what the other coaches were getting paid and wanted to be compensated likewise. Drad wants a BMW type program at Walmart prices. It doesn't work that way.

It always is unpleasant to change coaches. While I think we have seen enough doesn't mean I hope fan like me hope we are wrong and Brownell achieves great succeeds. That would be a plate of crow I would glad eat.

Agreed. And I would like to see the same improvements done on recruiting for basketball as was done for football. Football recruiting didn't improve drastically until the first recruiting center was built. Clemson has talent but a couple of one-and-done type blue chips would take the program to the next level.

Interested to see the term of the extension and how the buyouts for the new contract will be restructured. Also, the staff changes to be made as the article indicates will happen. I expect season ticket sales and attendance will take a hit next year given the level of discontent with the program.
