Matt Luke's impact will decide

our near term future until another elite QB comes in. While to me it has been our weakness almost every year, it's more of a weakness when you do not have QBs who process quickly and make good decisions. To me Cade is talented, just doesn't have the ability to see and make good timely decisions.
If Matt Luke is successful, we will have championships. To me, I'm looking forward to seeing the progress he makes over the next few years more than anything.

Riley is making $2.1 mm a year. Perhaps he should earn a paycheck?***

You didn't notice any improvements in the passing game? Much better spacing, better separation, WRs running wide open multiple times per game (Which didn't happen under the previous regime)? Even with a lack of talent at WR they were finding ways to get open quite frequently. If Cade can't see guys running wide open across the middle we can't help the guy.

IMO we are unlikely to land a DW4 or TL16 type of QB as their NIL value in probably $1M+. Even if the young man loves Clemson, it would be difficult to walk away from that type of money.

CK was similarly rated to Deshaun in high school and DJ was rated even higher than TL.
They just didn’t perform like it. Dabo is still capable of landing elite talent at each position. Especially with his unwillingness to portal.

I have no doubt. While my post is centered around QB play, I don't think we need a TL or DW type of player to win. I think we can still get those guys when they are out there. But if we don't have it, we need an O-line that can hold the pass block longer and I believe we can still be successful.

DW4 was ranked around the same as Cade...
DJ was one of the highest ranked players of all time...
We are continuing to sign 5* players...
We currently have a top 10 (5?) recruiting class...
Your fears of NIL holding back our recruiting is largely unfounded.

Correct. NIL is largely an excuse fans use when we don't get a recruit.***

I think we can. But if not, I don't think we need it if the O-line pass blocking improves greatly. I think Cade is skilled enough if given enough time.
Don't get me wrong, our line does well enough for him to do better than he has. But I think with more time, his skill set would be highlighted.

QB misses or development has been our downfall. Until our QB starts playing at a high level or we do better in QB recruiting we are going to be in this rut.

This is anecdotal, but based off my view at the bowl game, Cade just isn't processing information quick enough. He doesn't have a feel for the game. He's sporadic in the pocket and he struggles to anticipate guys coming open.
That is something that can be improved with more reps. My worry is that he's so far behind that it's unlikely we'll see significant improvements from his this year, even if the offensive line is better.
I believe in Garrett Riley. I hope he is able to get the most out of Cade's talent, for which there is plenty to work with. He's accurate, athletic, and has a good enough arm to make all the throws.

I don't know. DJ really struggle with his accuracy. I mean, it's pretty awful. Just look at the first play of the ACCCG in 2012. Easy throw, but DJ throws it in the dirt in front of Ngata's feet. We ran the same exact play to start the 2nd half, with Cade hitting Ngata in the numbers for a 7 yard gain.
Cade is very accurate. He is rarely going to completely "miss" someone like DJ often did.

Agree completely. I don't think Cade is a lost cause. I think he has the ability. Processing information quickly is key. I think that was DJ's issue as well, wheb Oregon St gave him time and we played well.
I think an elite O-line with pass blocking would take a lot of burden off Cade or any other QB for that matter.

As far a Cade is concerned

not every young QB hits their stride right out of the gate. This is why I did not decide that DJ was not a 5 star caliber qb until he sucked in his second season. only time will tell. Will Luke make our line one of the best in football? There is no telling until we play the first few games. Will Cade live up to his reputation? No telling until we play the first few games.

Agreed. He could improve. But I don't think winning requires it if our pass blocking improves greatly. Time will tell as you say! I pray both Cade and the O-line dominates this year.
