they even enter the portal. If you wait until it’s officially allowed, you won’t get any players. We don’t have a chance to get back to being a natty contender without a serious regulatory overhaul in rules enforcement. We’re not playing the same game as other top teams.

Many of the other teams are cheating, and everyone knows it, but he NCAA does nothing.
Dabo will get our ship back on course, and not cheat! He MUST make some coaching changes (OC).....
Cheating and still losing is really stupid. That's what most schools are doing? I'll never know why Georgia is so successful with recruiting and has been for years.... Now we know all the SEC teams have more money to spend on recruits, and they cull the bad players they pick up so many.
Much different than Clemson. Dabo will get it figured out; he hates losing more than we do!

We will all be split on this but I don’t want a coach that is unethical. If we go that route we will get an Urban Meyer or Jimbo Fisher which would leave our program farther back then it started when all is over

Just yesterday on the Dusty and Danny show on Sirius XM they spent 20 minutes talking about how shocked fans would be if they knew what was really happening. Dusty Dvoracek is a former all American and sideline reporter from Oklahoma; and I’m sure all of you know who Danny Kanell from FSU is. They spoke of people they personally know, who work for major programs, who have already selected players off of other rosters and are pursuing them. I’ve heard similar conversations on other national shows. We are the outlier; everyone else is already tampering

I don’t pay attention to random twitter guys looking for clicks. The people I’m talking about are calling football games for national broadcasters. They meet with coaches every week to prep for games. They talk to head coaches, ADs, booster club presidents, University presidents. Dusty for example was on the call Saturday on ESPN for the TX A&M vs South Carolina game and played for Coach V when he was the OU D coordinator. So please tell me how you know that tampering ISN’T rampant.
BTW Dusty picked us to win the Natty in the pre-season; so he’s not your typical “ESECPN” Dabo hater if that’s gonna be your next comment.

Well for one if there is anyone on TNET saying that tampering occurs, its been me. Just go back to a year ago when that ######## of a poster BlufftonOrangeMan tried to say it never existed despite me trotting out examples of it happening and being called out. Over and over again
What I am saying is that you keep making assumptions (like the above that I dont believe it occurs) that arent based on actual facts or evidence to support your theory and then used your theory to support your assumptions.
For example...

I’ve stated why I believe that tampering is rampant; because people who know a hale of lot more than you or I say so. You haven’t given a basis for your opinion
One last thing; as far as OU goes their two most coveted portal additions were in the portal for a whole day before they committed to OU. This includes their QB who Transferred from Washington state a scant week after Washington state’s offensive coordinator left to take the same position at Oklahoma. I know you’re gonna tell me that’s not proof of anything; again cool.

Yes, because God cares about the NCCA's rules which are merely suggestions at this point. LOL. Short story; We're not going anywhere near to back to the top anytime soon. Dabo will continue to handicap the program because Dabo's ego and feelings are more important than protecting the Clemson brand.

he’s as stubborn as it gets. So anyone who thinks we’re going to be miraculously better next year is in for a rude awakening. We’re staring down the barrel of a 6th straight mediocre season, and a few coaching changes aren’t going to make a difference (especially when we all know he won’t make all the necessary coaching adjustments) if he’s completely unwilling to address the roster issues and problems!

Not really surprising, but I had hoped with the disastrous season we were having that maybe he’d be willing to make some major changes. It’s also possible he still does and all this is just his usual jargon. Player retention doesn’t mean much when your players don’t produce. Our season, as well as Penn State’s, should be a testament to that. We will see what happens.

.....that we are now PAYING college athletes to play COLLEGE football, does the "timing of contact" really help to level the playing field? We all knew that certain teams were paying players, some worse than others. These rules concerning "tampering" are just plain dumb. It only hurts the honest rule following coaches, while the teams that never had any ethics to begin with will send out their former "bagmen" to negotiate the perfect safety net for these transferring players. These players just want assurances before entering, just as they wanted fair pay for NIL. It is now a different game. It is free agency-semi pro football with no salary caps. Remove stupid rules that punish rule followers and players that want those assurances. The concept that these rules somehow level any playing field is laughable.

Clemson will fire him when it’s all said and done. They will dress it up as a mutual type of thing but Clemson is going to have to move on within the next year or 2 bc we’re heading to the bottom.

Not sure Dabo gets for some reason... you make your bed you have to lay in it and he has been in it for the last 5 seasons plus...his way is not working and, we are regressing instead of progressing...2018-2019 is far in the rear view mirror. Its about what have you done for me lately not 7 years ago.The powers that be at Clemson are not going to continue to let less money coming into iptay, ticket sales, beer, merchandise sales etc. etc. etc. continue to drop. If he don't change his tune on using the portal and improving the team like so many other programs are doing, not sure he will make it to 2026. Just go ask Mike Gundy who had a similar view of the portal as Dabo does, what is he doing now??

his views are in line with the majority of Clemson supporters any longer at this point. He’s restating his intention not to adapt to today’s CFB game. IMO, he needs to move on before this gets ugly. I’m not sure how he can take an honest look at this season, this roster and think his outdated way is working. This season should have removed the remainder of any doubt that has been growing for the last few years. Other coaches giving $ back for not meeting expectations, doing what is needed. The contract is not for past accomplishments, it’s for now and the years ahead. We’ll see if he even guts the staff like needed. I’m not even hopeful of that after this bit of heel digging.

It still doesn't sound like he understands how to take advantage of the portal. What the good teams have learned is that you can have the best of both worlds with HS recruiting and Portal recruiting. There are so many kids that enter the portal and only a small percentage will fit the needs of Clemson. Just like high schools, I would have to assume that they have scouts assigned to portal recruiting who have a report on players on every D1 roster, and monitoring D1-capable kids from the lower levels.

First of all, all of the good players in the portal aren’t tampered with. Suggesting that they are is no better than the assertion that all portal players lack loyalty or are attitude problems.
These assumptions are dangerous. It’s even worse when they are used to defend our lack of portal usage while other schools improve and we falter.
But again, the Dabo cult eats this up. They conclude that the really successful teams cheat and that our only options are to cheat and win or do things the right way and lose.
This way of thinking will continue to kill our once proud program.

Define good? I have a friend whose kid started in the ACC and transferred to a G5 school. He said there is a ton of tampering going on even for that level of talent.
Plenty of our players admit to being tampered with. Pretty sure Williams turned down Ole Miss more than once.

Well, that answers the question about us going out and get what we need. We will end up with the leftovers in the portal. Retention is a good thing but I see players on this team that we don't need retention on. Looks like more of the same, especially if we don't get rid of some unqualified or underproducing coaches.

2000 that comment concerned me more than the "we ain't cheating ".. I mean what else was he supposed to say. But the retention vs the hs freshman answer is concerning. Our recruiting is going down because of that stance. So the cycle repeats: you get less talent up front to develop, then the next cycle, you retain that player, and then less talent. Seems like a downward trend of talent would naturally occur... which is what's occurring now.
As far as tampering, I can't buy the argument that all these other coaches are tampering. If you really break it down, it's no different than high school recruiting. I'd love to know what happened with the kid that decommited from northwestern and within days commits to us. I think it'd have to be a fair assumption to say he knew before he decommited that we were interested in him.

Agree with you 100%. People are bent out of shape about portal use. The bigger issue is not being competitive in funding high school recruiting. We won’t (and don’t) have the talent we did in the past. If he doesn’t want to overpay for high school recruits, then where is he going to get the talent from? I don’t think Dabo is an idiot. He should know the market sets the price of these recruits. You pay or you end up with less talented fallback options. It’s either pay high school recruits or pay portal players who you also don’t necessarily know much about. You gotta pick one or become a second/third tier program.
Does he think they are just going to take less money and come here because we have a great school and build men? Sorry Coach, that will be a very small percentage. Let’s try that with Dabo. Hey Coach, we are going to cut your pay to 2 mil a year. Clemson is such a great school and place to live. No need to look at what the market pays for a coach who has won two national titles. We think the intangibles will compensate you plenty.
