After having more time to think on the "Call-in Rant"

Here are my takeaways in conclusion.
1. Tyler is an @$$hat. Those of us who do question the direction of the program over the last 3 years do want Dabo asked tough questions. But that doesn't mean attacking him personally or questioning his faith or Salary (his salary was already earned, not to be earned)
2. Tyler accused Dabo of being prideful and arrogant. Dabo went on in his rant to prove that he is prideful and arrogant.
3. Dabo again attacked the fanbase for their expectation and for their lack of "appreciation". He will make 11.5 million worth of appreciation next year. To insinuate he doesn't have to answer tough questions after going 4-4 shows his arrogance.
4. Dabo again threatened to not be at Clemson and be "somewhere else". Again more arrogance.
5. "Ya'll ain't sniff a championship" - This was the worst of his statements by far. It alienates himself from Clemson, insinuates Clemson was nothing before him and we owe him everything and he owes us nothing. Arrogance, pride, smug and condescending all at once.
The whole exchange was a shatshow on both sides and embarrassing.

If you don’t know why Dabo is one of the highest paid coaches then where have you been since 2010?? Yet you’ve got people here and calling in questioning it and insinuating he doesn’t “deserve” it because of this season. Ridiculous.

This is my problem with our media now. Why does he need to answer tough questions to the public? Im sure future recruits would love to hear their position coach is terrible and going to be fired. Also love to hear their future head coach doesn’t know what he is doing. This has gotten ridiculous. This is how programs are tore down.

He needs to watch some of Bill Belichick's pressers/call-in shows. Take that low-key and just don't answer the stupid crap. Question: Hey Coach, what do you think about being 4-4 and being paid like your are?
Answer: On to Notre Dame. Next caller.

Bingo. And the tough questions will be answered by his actions this off-season. If he does nothing then that will rightly warrant more fire from the fan base but he will still get another year or two to do it whatever way he wants. If we have another year like this, recruiting falls off, and he still is not using the portal etc, the heat will ratchet up big time. You have to believe he isn't going to let his program fall into obscurity. Even with the "struggles" of the last few season.

I keep seeing this “his faith was attacked”. That might have been the one thing that Tyler didn’t attack. If anything he said he appreciated that he was a man of faith. I saw the pride verse mentioned more like “since you’re a man of faith, this might resonate with you to consider”

But for clarification, (even though Tyler was over the top), I heard him say he appreciated the fact that Dabo IS a man of faith. I didn't hear anything where he questioned it.

100 on all. Tyler called in wanting to get that reaction and Dabo gave it to him. Dabo’s first part of his reply would’ve been great and he should’ve stopped there, but he couldn’t help himself and it devolved into a #### show. Some say it’s Dabo showing “fire”, but he seemed petty. Hopefully, he “flushes” this as he likes to say, and moves on and focuses on finding a way to coach this team up to beat ND.

I have often written letters, emails, posts, etc. and waited a day before I sent them, or more likely did not send them. I had 24 hours, or more, to reflect on the letters and realize, even if true and totally correct, they might not be appropriate. Dabo didn't have 24 hours to respond to that call. In real time, maybe he should have said "give me a call and we will talk about it". But it happened and if we can't relate to what and how he said it, appropriate or not, then we are not human. If you are a Christian, you know that we are inherently flawed and we fight every day to overcome that, failing way more than we like. But we need to understand that we are human and we make mistakes. Right, wrong, or indifferent, it would surprise me if Dabo doesn't somehow offer an apology for the way he reacted.

Dabo saying he could just go somewhere else is very frustrating
2

Sure, there are some naysayers who have been louder than usual this year, but he practically walks on water in Clemson. He is treated like a king and the university basically gave him the keys to the city. He has carte blance to do whatever he wants.
He is not going to be treated like that if he went anywhere else and they would demand IMMEDIATE results. Even a school like MSU that is a complete dumpster fire right now would not have the patience to sacrifice wins for the friends and family coaching plan.
NOTE: One thing I think has been lost on Dabo in all of this is that one of the reasons our fanbase is getting distressed is that this decline is coming at the absolute worst time. We needed to get out of the ACC yesterday and that door is never going to open if we go back to winning 7-9 games a year. What value would be have to offer the SEC or B1G if we aren't competitive on the national stage? Yes, he deserves tremendous credit for elevating the brand but that can just as easily be destroyed. I fear we could be sitting there twiddling our thumbs until 2036 waiting for the call asking us to prom that never comes.

Dabo took the bait and ran with it, He had a choice. I am glad he went off but to be honest his comments about coaching another 15 years and if he is appreciated here he will go elsewhere is a bunch of #BS. He is a winner, passionate yes, but he fell for the bait this dude threw out there. Dabo is becoming more obstinate from the fan base in Clemson. He has major issues with a very young coaching staff at key positions especially OL and WR.

You have nailed it. Tyler dragged Coach Swinney into the mosh pit, baited him and beat him with experience as it is obvious Tyler lives in the scum at the bottom of the gutter. Unfortunately, Dabo took the bait and allowed his emotions to get over him. Not very good optics by any means. He is human after all. If I was on the receiving end of that, I would have been requesting a "meet up."
With that, I riding shotgun with Coach Swinney. Go Tiger!

Clemson was nothing until Dabo. I was at the 1981 National Championship game and we wondered in the desert for 35 years. I lived thru all of the CRAP coaches and the embarrassment of being a mid level team in the ACC. We sucked. This guy did what many have tried and until you can find someone with a better track record and proven results, then shut your pie hole. Tyler was a complete horse's a**. Two Natty's under is belt and he has to be called out by the idiot. If Dabo does leave, I can't wait to shove it up some of your all knowing a**.

This is just an absurd statement.
While Dabo Swinney has done multitudes of good things for Clemson, Clemson was far from nothing before he became head coach. Prior to Dabo becoming head coach Clemson was still a top 25 historical program and putting 80k butts in the seats every Saturday.

Actually that is incorrect. In wins we were outside top 25. Closer to 30 IIRC. Since youre the numbers person, I encourage you to look it up
Also we were definitely NOT putting 80K fans in the seats regularly during Hatfield and the Bowden years (except for a few here and there laregly based on opponent)

I never said anything about wins. You can’t go by wins otherwise Princeton would be like top 50.
I’ll have to look it up but there were several rankings back in the 2000s that had Clemson top 25 or near it as a program.
As far as attendance you’re absolutely wrong. Go look it up. In the 2000s rarely did Clemson have less than 77k in attendance and often had more than 80k

"top 25 historical program and putting 80k butts in the seats every Saturday"
Glas we agree that we were not top 25 histrocially, to be top 25 you have to be #25 or less, that is how math works. Top 30 is still good but its objectively not top 25
Since we are working on our math, 77K is not 80K nor does it equate to "every Saturday".

100% well said. The fact that its gonna be sports news on every website including FoxNews only highlights us in a negative way. Dabo's frustration with the season is boiling over in negative ways. Blaming fans and alienating them is not the answer. It reaks or arrogance and a childlike defense mechanism. You are the coach of a major college football team. You're one of the highest paid in your profession. Act like a professional, knock off the unnecessary swearing, and man up to your mistakes. The whole act reeks of hypocrisy. Teaching men to be leaders while picking fights with fans, acting like a spoiled teenager, and refusing to accept responsibility. Im grateful for Dabo's success, but in this current College Football climate he's flirting dangerously with becoming irrelevant. Ask yourself this...would you extend an invite to Clemson right now if you were the BIG10 or SEC?

I think Dabo is in uncharted waters and is not sure how to wade around in "expectation not meeting reality" and his team looking very mediocre for first time since 2010.
He seems lost and unsure of what is happening on gameday, much like we do watching what transpires. Nothing makes much sense, everything difficult, nothing easy, and he is trying to figure it out in real time which is nearly impossible.
He will do what he can to fix the issue/issues and do his best to get Clemson football back to the top.
When you say "best is the standard" and "best is yet to come" what you do is open yourself to being criticized by those who want nothing more than to see you fail. That is reality, it happens to every single success story when things start to go south.
Here is to Coach Dabo Swinney getting Clemson back to the top...and if not, then the best he can and I will be cheering for Tigers all the way.

HFC did himself no favors getting sucked in by the caller. If one was a smart ###, the other was a dumb ###.

The reality is he has not earned his pay the last 3 seasons. Team has been on a steady decline while his pay has gone up. We keep adding money wasteful items items like million dollar parking lots---playground building for the football team. Everything we have added and the decline continues

Dabo brought us to the highs that we were at. He should be proud of what he did. He should be offended when people want to run him off after one bad season.
