A10 coach of the year

Former Clemson Baseball player named A10 coach of the year. David Miller player in the 90’s under Wilhelm and Leggett. CWS participant in 95. Played with McMillon, Lecroy, Benson, Koch and Monohan. Head coach at La Salle. Program just eliminated. Took over a 10-41 team and this past year 32 wins and 9 all conference players.
Lasalle prior to Miller was a bad JV program with JV facilities. He brought in 3 nationally ranked recruiting classes and made the team the best in program history in 3 years. Then cut. Bad JV Facilities didn’t matter, program didn’t matter, environment didn’t matter. Players came and developed and won. Get rid of Lecroy and See and bring in Clemson blood like Miller to help Monte or bring him in to lead this program.
Time for change or else we will just keep seeing the same old story.
Tired of everyone saying Bradley LeCroy is good. He has been here since we have started to go down hill. You can recruit but can’t develop. Players don’t get better here. Seth Beer was Player of the Year as a freshman and then never hit over 300 again in college. He will be an MLB all star most likely. That is a problem.

Well I certainly appreciate it. I've taken it and wrote the AD's office voicing my opinion. That's what I did with it. We need Clemson ties... But beyond that, he's pretty dang good with what he did.

I like your optimism for Beer, but by the time he left Clemson he was a dead pull hitter losing batting average due to the extreme fielding shifts set up against him. Made no sense they didn’t help him hit to opposite field like we see Grice doing. Second thing, he was never going to make the Majors as an outfielder. Clemson barely got by with him in right. I’m forgetting right now who locked down first base, but Beer should be angry at Lee for not allowing him to develop at first base. Now he’s sitting in the minors trying to make the show with his bat alone.

And he's done the same d a m n thing with Teo. Teo should have been a hot tamales that everyone is after. Actually was listening to a scout talk about Teo and how they'd take him and teach him to hit again.
Teo was a good hitter coming out of HS. Monte hasn't taught teo to poke the ball to the opposite field, nor has he used him to drag bunt down first and use his speed when the D is playing deep. Monte tried to make him use launch angles bs and teams quickly learned, pitch teo a breaker outside... His bat doesn't come within 6 inches of the ball. Noo, don't show the kid how to extend his arms and slam it through the right side. Especially when man on first. He misses and he's still probably fast enough to beat the throw and not get doubled up... Yeah Monte, it's better for him to strike out, great strategy.

Clem Gal, I love your enthusiasm for our sports, but I really love your knowledge of baseball, softball and golf. You know way more than some on Tnet about these CU sports. And I agree 100%, Monte's batting philosophy is hurting our team, our players and our players futures. It's terrible to see players batting averages go down every year they play for Clemson. Happened to Beer, Teo, and I think Hal as well. The only thing he taught Kier was how to get hit by the ball to get on base as so he could steal 2nd, only to see batters strike out behind him.
While I like Monte but unless there is some type of shake up with the asst coaches, we are going to see the same crap next year only delaying progress for another painful season.

David Miller is going to make some big program a very good coach and soon. His specialty is as a hitting coach. Equally as impressive is how he doesn’t look for excuses to explain not being a good program. There has probably never been a program with more obstacles than LaSalle. He refused to let that get in the way of a remarkable turnaround.
