Brand Recognition is one of the most important sales tools in any product market. Companies who have a long history of brand recognition such as Coca Cola, McDonalds, Burger King, Ford, Apple, etc. do not change their brand logo. Football teams who have decades of brand recognition do not screw around with their brand logo. Especially in todays tv market when teams are trying to attract viewers.
Michigan helmet is an iconic brand. Immediately recognized world wide.
Penn state's white jerseys with no player's name is a u unique brand id.
FSU helmet color with the arrow is iconic.
Notre Dame golden helmet is an iconic brand logo.
UNC pale blue color uniforms is instantly recognized as UNC.
And Clemson Orange helmet with the white tiger paw is uniquely Clemson. In fact, Clemson started the Tiger paw logo and has a patent on it. It was designed by Henderson Advertising Co. located in Greenville, SC.
One does not screw around with destroying an iconic brand ID. Or a tradition like rubbing the rock and running downhill to enter the fo0tball field. OR GATHERING AT THE PAW AFTER EACH GAME WIN OR LOSE. Some marketing person making far too much money in the AD office is trying to justify their job by doing away with traditions and replacing them with fleeting gimmicks. Here today, gone tomorrow.

Amen, brother. It starts with a white helmet, next thing ya know they'll come out in all black. Before ya know it we're the the East coast oregon with 40 uni combos. Please in the name of everything holy, leave the uniforms as they are.

FSU changes up their helmet often so thats not a good example. Penn states boring unis didn't mean a thing against Oregon who changes uniforms and helmets often. The reigning national champs have the occasional alternative helmet/uniform. I don't think they're falling apart out in columbus.
Good brands change with the times and aren't stuck in the past just for past's sake. Otherwise we'd still have a funky C instead of the paw or navy blue helmets with orange stripes.
Army/Navy are some of the most tradition laden historic schools in the country and they still have some good alternative uniforms on occasion.
I'm sure an even older crowd thought the world was ending when we put a nike logo and players names on the back.
Times change, you evolve or get left behind.
I don't want Clemson to be bama or penn state, I want us to be Clemson.
Would it be the end of the world if we did a purple helmet with some homage to those who served on military appreciation? Would it be the end of the world if we came out in purple more often on the road when playing red teams so we "pop" more on the screen as being recognizable as Clemson?
Ronald got phased out at McDonalds, Apple no longer has the rainbow logo good companies evolve over time.

gimmicks that unsuccessful or wannabe programs do to create interest. As you said, the classic/successful programs keep their classic looks. We should do the same.

Why didn't we stick with numbers on the side of the helmet or the funky C? or the navy with orange?

Not black but Charcoal gray would be great. It's a school color now called "College Avenue" tight up there with Clemson Orange and Regalia. I like the gray basketball and softball unis.

I disagree to a point regarding the helmets/uniforms. The paw itself is instantly recognizable and the marketing tool. You mention FSU as an example. Friday night they wore white helmets with white uniforms and they were very sharp IMO. I think a white Clemson helmet with an orange paw with all white uniforms would be very sharp as well. I'm not saying go Oregon and have an absurd amount of uniform combinations, but a few additional options that are well designed would be nice. Just my two cents.

Still Oregon (Nike) has done well with new uniforms and left Clemson in the rear view mirror for now.
My take is jersey and helmet colors are superficial adornments. Some high school recruits prefer new and exciting. Some prefer tradition. Alums and fans prefer tradition.
So if our Clemson Tigers went undefeated with white helmets, would you like them better than orange helmets with multiple losses?

Suspect no more than 10% of Tiger fans can tell you who was the coach when we went to the Tiger Paw.

Like everyone else, Ive heard rumors of white helmets with an orange paw and I don't think changes like that is a big deal. Almost every major and most recognizable brand logos have changed multiple times over their existence. But the changes are subtle to maintain tradition while offering a fresh change. Even our uniforms have gone through many changes over the years... - the size of the paw on the helmet - the rotation of the paw on the helmet - paws on the shoulder vs the sleeve - 3D numbers - Helmet stripes - Pant stripes
