to have him pull the rug out. Wish he would have handled that in a more mature manner.
Good luck to KJ. Thanks for the time and effort.

I don't believe it was shenanigans. He was trying to talk some of the other players into staying along with him. They didn't. I think some considered it before the Orange Bowl happened.

It was always a long shot. KJ was the only reason they were even considering coming back. I can't blame any of them for pursuing their dreams.

Well even six years ago the idea that those guys all came back was pretty surprising. Luckily it worked out for them.

Breese and Murphy are projected top ten overall picks, none of The Power Rangers even got a 1st round projection. The money difference between first and 2nd round is huge!!
1st Overall - $39.6M, $25.9M signing bonus
32nd Overall - $12.4M, $6.2M signing bonus
33rd Overall - $8.68M, $3.87M Signing Bonus
64th Overall $5.24M, 1.37M Signing Bonus
The Power Rangers turned down 10M in hopes that they could sign a deal where they could make 40M, thus making it a worthwhile investment. These guys would be turning down 40M so they could potentially make 50M. The math isn't the same in these situations.

T3,
Jesus Christ, man. These guys gave their all for 3 years and have millions of dollars waiting for them and their families - and still you begrudge them their freedom.
I'd love to see you deny such a chance at life-changing money out of loyalty to something.
Fortunately for you, you will never have to come to grips with such a decision.

Old farts have been complaining about kids these days since Socrates (and before). And yet the world twirls right on. Of all the people that you would chose to call out - KJ Henry, really. And all because of some selfish desire to bask in their reflected glory. Sad.
SOCRATES: “The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

I wanted him to come back until he went down on a non contact play. I thought he tore his ACL but thank God he was ok. At that moment, I changed my mind. These guys bust their tails to get to the NFL. That supersedes winning a natty in their eyes. I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision

I think he was seriously considering coming back, but he wanted it to be a package deal (like the PRs). When BB and MM decided not to stay, then KJ decided to go, too.
I am glad that he did. I don't think he can have a better year than he did this year. Here's to a long and fruitful career in the NFL.

Can't blame KJ, he had a great season. The days of the Power Rangers-type commitment are long gone, my friend.

The Power Rangers all coming back was a rarity even in its time. I cannot recall a time when three draft picks from one school decided to come back - ever. It was a once in a lifetime thing.

Baloney .... you must have been listening to Walt D. He was just having a little fun and was probably tired of answering the question so he thought he would string the media along. He may not have even made up his mind yet. He has certainly paid his dues at Clemson and deserves to do whatevery he wants. Good for KJ. I'll always be a fan!

I have zero issue with KJ going pro. He put his time in at Clemson and succeeded in all aspects of the program.
I'm happy for him. If his idea of "having fun" was suggesting he would stay of Tyler and Ruke stayed, but then be decided without them, then that, IMO, wasn't an appropriate way to handle.
I think you may be mistaking my post for an attack on KJ, but that's not what it was.

But he really brought it in 2022 as a player and solid leader. I believe KJ can stick with an NFL team -- wish him the best!
