B-727 was my 1st Captain position, so I'm partial to it. B727-200 is tricky to land after origional B-727-100 was stretched to make 200 series. Center of lift over wing was moved when 100 series stretched to 200 series. U had to work for a smooth landing on 200 series.
B-737 was easiest to land. Always a smooth landing on B-737.
I flew DC-9 10, 30, 50 & 80 series. 10 series is a little pocket rocket w/o leading edge slats. MD 80 is a great a/c.
The bottom line is McDonald Douglas builds a pilot's a/c and Boeing builds a creature comfort cabin a/c.
DC-10 was a great a/c & easy to get a smooth landing, but it got a bad reputation after all were grounded when AA killed everyone (225 souls?) in crash at Chicago O'hara due to faulty engine replacement on wing engine & not following manufacturer's wing replacement SOP.
Last year's of my career were in new generation Boeings for international over Ocean on 2 engine a/c. FAA used to require 3 or more engines for over ocean ops. until B-757 arrived. I prefer B-757 over other Boeings because it's like a sports car and not fly-by-wire controls like 777 & 787.

He said, āDonāt ever get into a small private plane with a pilot who flies as a hobby. We in the airline industry call those planes ādoctor and lawyer killers.ā
Iām sure itās fun, and Iām sure there are stats that show how uncommon small private aircraft accidents are, but Iāve read way too many stories about supposedly competent pilots who crash their plane and kill everyone on board. No thanks.

Roger that Judge KellerĀ®. I know and have worked closely with many military, corporate and private pilots worldwide with many type ratings and credentials. Many respects to all of them. The degree of complexity and training requirements can be quite high. Those that I've worked with are pro's pros with thousands of simulator and flight hours.
I share your cautious approach. The weekend flyers with limited flight time can be overmatched by weather, storms and equipment issues. Most overcome it most of the time. Sadly others who we read about in the paper, too often in bad weather conditions, do not.

Don't understand your post about King Air.
King Airs are one of the safest turboprop a/c ever made, both in civilian & military applications.
Pratt & Whitney PT-6 ENGINES are very reliable.

The beach Bonanza V 35 in the 60s was named the Dr killer and bonanza reinforced every plane in the tail after that. Itās now one of the safest planes around. By the way, there were only a few doctors involved. The planes are not doctor killers. The doctors were plane killers. Thereās plenty of pilots who are too cavalier. Most of them are not doctors or lawyers.

When I was a flight instructor 35 years ago, I worked at a 141 flight school that used a J model V35 for SE Commercial instruction. My checkout consisted of getting in the airplane with the assistant chief pilot, where I watched him execute 2 takeoffs & 2 landings. He then gave me the airplane and I did 1 takeoff & 1 landing. Checkout concluded.
The next day I go out with my student. About item # four on the syllabus for the day? Stalls. I can unequivocally state, a V-tail Bonanza does not stall like a 152 or 172.
I can also tell you, that a clean stall in a Lear 24 or a Hawker is a very abrupt break.
No stalls in the Challenger or the Globalā¦.strictly forbidden. To the shaker only.

Judge I am just making a point. Mistakes by people operating a vehicle have killed or injured more people than pilots. Sure they make mistakes.
We all do. But thank God many of our mistakes do not result in death or injury.
I really enjoyed all of the posts about the Clemson Tigers Air Force š

Iāve ridden 100 plus times with guys like that and Iām still alive and kicking. Just stop being afraid of everything plenty of airline pilots have but the dust, too. If itās your time itās your time.
Iāve also flown in plenty of helicopters and weenies wonāt get on with me. I just donāt fear things. Driving in a car is more dangerous than any airplane

My checkride is currently for August 26th in Albertville Alabama. I've been endorsed since July 18th. But the weather has caused a backup at my school.
The DPE makes you say Roll Tide on the radio before you finish.
I plan to make a "mistake" and say Roll Tigers.
