A few thoughts on the wimminz' BB game:

Basic entertainment commentary from an old small college HOF'er (male), so all you who get offended at everything, you don't have to read. I have good and bad here, so don't fall off your rocker. But since I've got time to spend in medical recovery here... (thank you, Duke, I feel differently about you now)
After watching so much of the men, the women even at the highest level are kind of "unwatchable". The silly stuff, awful looking turnovers, weak misses around the rim, way below-the-rim play, etc. I've already stated before several times that a good high school boys' basketball team playing above the rim would skull crush even the best women's teams, college or pro... BTW, have coached BOTH genders at the high school level.
This'll stir a few drinks, but I have trouble seeing how a certain uni' or two pays coaches something like 3 mil. a year or more. Do they bring in this much revenue and attention to the school? Maybe they do and I don't know it. I know Auriemma is probably worth all of it, but I don't care much for most of the others, and I will not mention names or uni's.
Now, to appear double-minded, there are a few women players that aside of much less athleticism, actually play the game better than most men in terms of fundamentals and even scoring and passing ability. Caitlyn Clark's shooting and passing and court sense are obvious and need no eommentary.
the other thing to watch for is the mostly-abandoned "stop-and-pop" and you old-schoolers will know hat I'm talking about. Page Bueckers of UConn is your best example. Knows that to drive in to the rim every time you just run into trees. instead just stops at ten or fifteen feet on a dime, shoots a basic pull up jumper. This is really referred to as a mid-range game, that few men have, though there are a few. (Le Bron probably hasn't made ten of these his whole career because he just drives the rim almost every time). Most of the time, mid-sized or shorter players drive all the way to the rim, often getting trouble in the "trees".
The best players are good scorers AND good passers. Pretty rare, actually.
That's enough for now.

I remember watching Mike D'Antoni when he played at Marshall. He had excellent fundamentals, and a great stop-and-pop. Marshall played a ton of fast break which is so much fun to watch.
Despite what some people say (certainly they can't believe it) there are physical differences between xx humans and xy humans. I can not think of a single sport where the best women athletes can compete with HS boys.
100 meters 10.49 Florence Griffith Joyner 9.93 boys HS
800 meters 153.28 Jarmila Kratochvílová 146.45 boys HS
There is not a single track & field event where the best women in the world are better than HS boys.
The USA women's soccer team lost 5-2 to an Under-15 boys team. They lost to a team of boys who still relied on their parents to get to games.

I watched a Clemson ACC tournament game this year and it was unwatchably bad basketball.
No one could shoot including shots that failed to get to the rim and rec league level turnovers.
A solid high school team would beat both teams I saw playing and it might get ugly.
I watched UConn's final four game and while it wasn't that bad it still wasn't good basketball.
There just isn't much basketball talent out there so even top 25 women's programs have players playing that can't do basic things like dribble or shoot.

Agree and disagree. No doubt men MBB players are better than WBB and a good high school boys team could beat the best college WBB teams. But in many cases WBB players are more fundamentally sound. They typically play a more team oriented game with more passing and they travel less so can be more entertaining at times. Though watching games of both over the weekend I am not sure what constitutes travelling anymore. There are some WBB programs that probably do make money and draw good crowds, but there are a lot fewer of them than the men for sure.

I agree that too many easy shots are missed in WBB. Was the defense that great last night? TX and TCU or just bad offense? The commentators keep telling us how great the WBB is becoming but this year it has not.
