Those Illinois teams are tough. Northern beat national champ runner-up ND last year.

11-1 until otherwise noted.
Realistically:
1 - @ GT - I don't like the road games but think we'll be fine against GT. Game 3 and Clemson gets a tune up game this week in Troy to refocus.
2 - SMU - We're home. This is the week before our BYE and, typically, we play a sloppy game before BYE weeks. Being the home team helps.
3 - FSU - Rival at Home. Tough to say how we'll be playing at that point but it's not after a BYE so I lean that this might be a close game that could go either way.
4 - @ Louisville - Papa John is going to be rockin' but we do well in revenge games. Tigers take the W.
5 - @ SC - Sometimes we play better in our home down the road. Clemson redeems last year's loss to get ready for ACC Champ game + CFP.

Sloppy game BEFORE the bye week? Last year we sucked against UL AFTER the Bye Week. Not prepared at all. UL punched us in the mouth!

Good breakdown of the games. But I'm sticking with an I don't know. As posted after lsu game, we won't really know how good or bad for that matter, on our future games.
Ga Tech seems to be an improved team. Minnesota did score 20, ga tech tried to give it away so we don't know... but imo, we'll overwhelm them in the 2nd half at the worst. Talent gap still too huge.
SMU and Louisville??? 🤷
FSU - great win and have shocked the nation. We'll see if Castellano can hold up when he has to beat the opponent in multiple ways. That said, barring injuries will be the next time we can gage our growth.
Saying, we'll look great and dominate the cupcakes between now and that game. It'll be spun and the wagon fans will be singing the pre-season praise again on how Dabo has turned it around. Dabo will be nauseated to listen to. Bottom line, I'll enjoy and 👏 every game. But anything less than 10-2 will be a Huge disappointment... and that all depends on FSU abd SCar actually being great teams.

If we lose 2 more games he needs to let Riley go and look harder at the portal this offseason. Teams are showing that they can still build depth and take on portal players (LSU is a prime example). We need to be honest and look at this without our orange tinted glasses. He’s 2 more seasons from ruining everything he built if this keeps up.

agree Row, no way we win 9 games with zero run game again. I say 8-4 is the ceiling. Cant count on big game Cade to produce in big road games like Ga Tech, louisville, USC .

The problem is 9-3 with a senior QB and the changes made on offense over the past 3 years makes you go how is this gonna be BETTER going forward. Next year even with Chris V it'll be his first year as a starter?
THIS was supposed to be THE year. If in THE year the best we can do is 9-3 then it resets the whole outlook on the program going forward.
Even 10-2 is an issue if it means we somehow miss the ACC champ game/ the CFP.
Like if we can't do it this year then we are back to a rebuild again especially if it means we get yet ANOTHER OC that has to start over with another after Chris V's 1 year as a starter. Which spins the wheels out to almost 2030 at that point. That's basically the whole decade in the wilderness.
