That's the seeds advancing in the CFP. Do you think the bye was actually hurtful for the 1-4 seeds? Or just the 5-8 were just that much better. AZ State was the only one that put up much of a fight. Wonder if the seeds would have different if it was only 4 teams getting in. Also wonder how many years did the best team not win it since they may have been left out.

Oregon, who just had a bad day against the most talented team in the country.
UGA was clearly not a contender after losing Beck.
Boise State and ASU were cute stories, but neither had a chance at winning 3 big games.
It just happened that way this year.

Just take 8 teams. This year showed that teams 9, 10, 11, 12 could not win 1st game or any game.

Taking just eight teams, Ohio State would likely have been left out from taking the five conference champions. And Ohio State is probably the favorite to win it all now.
