Gabe Devoe

I know there's been a lot of talk about this kid since last night, but earlier in the season I made a post about this guy not living up to what I expected he would be for this team..and what I expected was what I saw in the last five minutes of the game last night! I feel like this kid has serious potential and it will be interesting to see how he improves over the off season. I believe his ceiling is just as high as Granthams-if not higher. If he can just loosen up and just play, I believe he has the potential to be one of the best scorers that we have seen around here in a long, long time.

I don't think his ability to score is what kept him on the bench this year. BB sat him because his defense was not up to par. I am still not sure his D is where BB expects it to be but deer loward we need someone who can make a bucket and if he is the guy then put him on the floor.

He was also lost on offense.... The last 5 mins of that game was a hectic pace that would not work for a full game. NC St was also guarding the 3 which opened up the middle allowing him to drive easier than normal.

If you have only one good shooter, he gets doubled
I think the flaw here is that a lot people do not understand Basketball 101
This is not Football, you do not win Championships with Defense

and running the plays he's supposed to run and being in the right spot. It doesnt help that everytime he came in the game, he would throw up shots that were NOWHERE NEAR going in. He was 1-21 going into the duke game from the floor. Simply looked lost for a lot of the earlier season. Nobody can fault brownell for not playing him more early in the season. Hopefully the 'light has come on' for Devoe because we could use a deep ball threat.

shots were not falling. Therefore, there was no reason to keep playing him. However, I don't know how true it is, but I've heard that he has been lighting it up in practice, and that was why he did get PT as the season progressed, but it never translated to games . . . until last night. If he can score like he did last night, I don't care how bad he is on defense, it would be foolish to keep him on the bench.

I suspect he is like Roper. An impressive game here or there and then fade into the background for several. Ajukwa may be closer to helping us.

little knowledge about the topic at hand.
I hope last night was a sign of things to come with Devoe because he looked great but anyone who's paid attention this year knows last night (and Duke) were the exceptions for Devoe, not the rule.
He's been 0-for in every other game he's played in.
He looked like he can be a go-to guy last night but it's not like BB has been hiding 18 points on the bench every game. All our "shooters" are hot-then-cold from one game to the next (Roper has looked like he could be the go-to guy at times but not in about 3 weeks, Blossomgame has all but disappeared, Grantham is streaky, Harrison has his moments and then plays like crap for days, etc.).
