With our weak offense of line, and limited passing skills, I believe that Clemson should always kick a field goal when it’s fourth and goal, regardless of the yard line.
Had Potter kicked the field goal, the 4th quarter would’ve been easier to manage.

I don’t have a problem going for it, but to run out the @heavy” package is a joke. We haven’t been successful running that since big Dex. Line up and make the defense cover the whole field and not just between the tackles.

How about a small huddle or tight formation split guys out wide and then play the numbers, wherever they are. If you have the advantage in the box run. If you have the advantage outside throw a quick pass.

Or how bout our 250 lb QB go under center??? Even EJ Manuel pointed out that many college teams never do this and it forces guys to get 9 yards instead of 1-2. Make zero sense. Clear sign that we have zero faith in our line

Get where you’re coming from with this but me personally, I’m not into situational absolutes like you’re talking about unless it’s to say, put us up by 2 possessions. That said, I didn’t like the 4th & goal call last night when it happened. Potter was back to his usual form, he’d made 2 XPs & a FG prior to that point iirc. The offense had chances to punch it in and it the ball wasn’t on the goal line. Getting nothing there hurt more than not getting 7. Take the 3 at that point.
Total hindsight hypotethical here but jeez, can you imagine if Louisville had scored a TD in the end (and XP) how not taking 3 there would be questioned. I’m so relieved we’re not talking about that this morn.

With this offense, you take points period. The fact that the coaches have not learned this is concerning.
I could not watch the game because of my daughter’s theater performance. Chicago performed by the high school here in Woodbury MN. The talent of these kids is amazing and the sets are that of off Broadway shows.
But I digress, I was trying to keep up through gamecast. When did this happen?

There was absolutely zero advantage to go for it vs. kicking a field goal there. Had we scored we would have tied the game. We would still have to score again to win it. Take the 3 and move on. Just think how huge that 3 points would have been on their last drive at the end of the game! We would have been up by 9 instead of 6. That was one of the worst situational play calls I’ve seen. We won thank goodness but that call could have easily cost us the game.
