Energy level as I approach 80

Many of yall are not far behind, and all yall will hopefully get there.

I don't have enough energy these days to do much in any one day as I am by Nature --> lazy.
LBB is a Tnet treasure as to physical and mental energy. Few are him, I aspire to that.

My goal right now is to get in 3 miles in the heat/humidity around 8am before Summer heat hits, and then do what little I can as to maintenance as to my house and yard.
Homes require lots of work.
Folks/friends my age downsize. The fire did that for me as to large home, but my incredible yard remains.

I have shifted to just drinking beer on Saturday.
On the porch right now (did not do my slog today) with a few cold ones and feeling guilty (but happy).
A huge tree fell across my lake path. I been sawing since dawn while it was cooler.

I am blessed as to still being able to do things like that.
I understand time will be taking that from me -> will hate having to depend on others as I am a classic introvert.

Before age fogs my brain over -- just want to post thanks to my Tnet friends as yall anonymous folks have been a true blessing.
Yall got me through a tuff patch 2 years back when I nearly gave up. Friends here mean a lot to me.
I know I annoy many -- I try to Abide.

Yeah, it is the beer talking, but that is part of who I am.

Congrats my friend. My Dad was still working in his 80’s. I pray God will Bless you with many many more years. We need people of your caliber as part of the Clemson Family.

We also need people with your character to help us with the up coming HS and College Grads. Some of them have either lost sight of how great this country is and the freedoms they enjoy.

More importantly, they do not seem to appreciate the sacrifices made by so many men and women who gave their lives for generations to come as well as for those who have served and or currently serving our country 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

May God Bless you for many more years 🙏🙏🙏

I feel like I could build up the endurance again to an extent, but it is just hard on the joints is why zi avoid running. Maybe that is just an excuse though.

Had 6'4" buddy from Wilkes who you could walk into hell with and know he would not take a step back. Guys like that are rare.

He wanted to upgrade himself and asked me for advice.
I told him to go home, mix a glass of his favorite -> Crown Royal and walk up the road as he drank it.

He was puzzled.
I said you are going to drink the Crown as well you should, adding a walk is a start.

Even those who are not that old still have those low energy days. No problem with just relaxing.

Tug,

First of all thanks for the sage insight on contending with not being able to do the things you used to. It's frustrating, challenging, and character building at a time when I don't want any more character. I turn 65 next year and have been slowing my roll since 62 out of necessity. They say attitude is the key to aging well. I find that Gratitude, with a capital G, is the real secret, that and steady exercise, and few beers on the weekend.

Need you to stick around and tell us about turning 100!

Orneriness is a virtue.

I am a little confused by one of your comments. You said “I have shifted to just drinking beer on Saturday”. Does that mean Saturday is the only day you are going to drink beer or do you mean that drinking beer is the only thing you are going to do on Saturday? Inquiring minds, you know….
