Rushing was not the issue, in fact, Adam Randall was probably the brightest spot on our offense today. He averaged over 5 yards a carry, and we get routed if he doesn’t get that long run

he point is like the rest of the team with poor coaching. the staff has zero faith in the rb room. they would rather rush cade and wrs than allow an actual rb give randall a breather ..if im davidson im out the door after this season

In 2022 we talked about how bad RB recruiting was going and pumpers gaslighted.

Get off the Rb coaches and other position coaches…Randall is a great rb in which spiller and Dabo and the rest of the offensive staff knew or they wouldn’t have made the switch for him. The running back room is not the problem of this offense!

You make a fair point about our RB room being thin on true, recruited running backs. I think the issue runs deeper than just NIL. • Player development & retention — Lynn-J Dixon was a talented back who we essentially ran off. Instead of building a stable rotation, we over-touted Will Shipley as the answer to everything, which left us with little depth once he struggled with injuries or inconsistency. • Coaching pedigree — Our current RB coach (C.J. Spiller) is a Clemson legend, but he hasn’t yet shown the résumé of producing elite bruiser backs or developing NFL-caliber runners. Recruits notice that. They want to be coached by someone with a proven track record of putting backs into the league. • Offensive line play — Even the best backs won’t shine without a front that can move people. Clemson’s OL recruiting and development have lagged behind other top programs. A bruiser back has no interest in pounding into a line that isn’t creating space. • Recruiting message — NIL matters, sure, but kids also buy into coaching stability, development, and scheme fit. Right now, it’s hard to sell bruiser RBs on a system that hasn’t emphasized downhill power football and hasn’t shown results in recent years.
That said, I’d argue RB isn’t even our biggest concern at the moment. Yes, Clemson should at least be playing a back we recruited to actually play RB, but compared to other issues.... OL development, offensive creativity, staff structure, recruiting strategy...RB is more of a symptom than the root problem. Until we address those larger issues, we’ll keep running into the same wall.

Don’t worry the running back room will be thinned out at seasons end . Davison will portal out as will other RBs. You can also rest assured that some of the receivers will also bolt instead of playing in this high school offense .

You just also proved a big point. Clemson gave up 0 sacks today with 2 of the better olinemen out. That might have to translate to which running back played the most. Sounds like he may have did a good job in pass protection.
