First time at a Clemson Game Sept 23rd!!

Hey folks,
My family (me, my wife and son) will be traveling to watch Clemson play FSU on the 23rd. We got our hotel and tickets already. My Son is a huge Clemson fan and this is going to be his 13th birthday present as well as his first ever College Football Game. Im just looking for any tips that will make this experience one that last with him. I haven't seen the game time posted yet so were not entirely sure what time the gates open or what time we should be at the stadium and if he will be able to walk around. I've been to games in the past but I've never been to Clemson so im not familiar with the location. Should we UBER or drive and if we drive what about parking?
Side note while my Son is a Clemson fan im a FSU Fan (House Divided)and ill be sitting on the Clemson side. Hopefully this does not make any of you upset but ill still be rooting for FSU.
Thanks in advance

One thing is for sure, you picked a good one for your son’s first college football game. Hopefully both teams are undefeated (don’t want to jinx it) when they meet and if so, chances of it being the college game day coming to town will be high which means a night game. If you decide to drive, you can always pay for parking or try to find a parking pass on TigerNet tickets. Tailgating will be a blast. Clemson fans are gracious hosts. If you Uber, you can enjoy downtown prior to the game. Good luck and have fun! Your son sounds like a smart young man! Go Tigers!

For fun try out one or two of these suggestions Nole:
* Go downtown & let 13 ye old Son shop for a Tiger gift at one of the many (crowed) clothing stores.
* Then ably 1 hour b/4 kick-off walk from downtown shops onto large Bowman Field to Amphitheater to hear Tiger Band play fight songs and watch cheerleaders. * Then Go 50 yards West up the steps to the front of the John C Calhoun mansion (Fort Hill) on your left which is a street that overlooks the stadium (go at least 45 minutes b/4 kick-off time!) so to see TiGER Band assemble (as stated above they will play fight songs in Amphitheater)..
and at precisely 45 minutes b/4 kick-off they began playing TiGER RAG (with cheerleaders & flag carriers in front) and march all the way down that street’s incline towards stadium and while standing there you will hear each musical instrument section playing a different sounding part of the Rag..
and after the Band passes by then jump in back of them with hundreds of excited fans and head down to stadium..
and go to your seat immediately so to see Tigers come into stadium to assemble at Howard’s ROCK b/4 running down The HiLL.
Enjoy your day and don’t be surprised by the many Tiger Fans saying nice things..like Welcome to Clemson.
Lastly, we have a very fine FSU & TigerNet poster & gentleman on here that we highly admire & respect (named bretfsu) and you will surely hear from him.
ENJOY and Go TiGERS & NOLES!

Good advice LBB. The band's mini concert in the amphitheater starts at 90 minutes before kickoff and lasts about 30 minutes.

Would not recommend Uber. They might get you there but it would be pretty hard to get home after the game. Several places to park for a fee on N Clemson Ave. But you'll need to get there early.
Show up early, park and walk downtown Clemson. Walk through some tailgate parking lots, most people will be cordial and invite you over for food and a drink.
Get inside the stadium about 30 minutes prior to kickoff for the running down the hill. Hopefully it's a night game and the light show will be awesome.

Good point about the UBER. Are there local restaurant's that anybody would recommend if its a night game?

Honestly, if it's a night game just crash a tailgate. You won't be turned away hungry.

The greatest moment in your sons life I promise you that! And I bet you are your wife will like it too. I assure you that you will be treated respectfully by all the Clemson fans. It would be a very rare moment for you to cross paths with someone who had Tailgated TooMuch. The traffic, parking and getting around in the area will be a nightmare so be prepared for that! The Clemson campus is amazing but wear some good walking shoes. There likely will be 100,000+ fans at this game and Clemson ‘ain’t’ designed for that! Game day is almost a sure bet. I look for this to be an afternoon game while most fans believe it will be a late kickoff. Certainly will be cooler under the lights. Have a safe travel

Oh..section C will be just fine to see game and know Dabo likes #’s, dates & names that have been meaningful to him and his success..and the “C” would fit in with lucky that scenario (as in, Clemson).
Oh, please do march down from the John C Calhoun mansion street with TiGER Band 45 minutes b/4 kick-off as I earlier suggested..
and know the Fort Mill home can be toured free and in the back is a cabin containing Mr Calhoun’s old U.S. Senate desk & leather chair. I met the President of Texas A&M and his Family there in 2018 and had nice chat about our similar military history.
Know that JC Calhoun was Clemson’s Father-in-Law and that Mr Calhoun was a U.S. Senator, VP twice, Sec of State, Sec of State, Ambassador and was considered to be in the forefront of starting the Civil War.
Check out a pic of fiery him.
At an unreal 6’6” in height he had other 6+ foot visitors to visit and stay at lovely historical Fort Hill, such as: Daniel Webster (the dictionary guy) and Patrick Henry.
Lastly, do NOT take your 13 yr old Son to the world famous ESSO Club and pop a cold beer!! LOL~

I just told my wife about this website and how so many folks are giving me ideas about the weekend. My son is huge into history especially military (In a Marine) so I think he would absolutely enjoy seeing that. We picked section C just because I was getting nervous about waiting any longer to purchase tickets.

It's also where the players' parents sit, so be careful to not disparage any Tigers, or you might catch the wrath of a momma Tiger.

Great ..... there are plenty of former Marines (yeah I know once a Marine always a Marine) and I am one of them. Clemson has a rich military history as we were only behind the US Military Academy and Texas A & M in officers sent into WW II. You have gotten some great advice here. If you are going to be in Clemson for a littler longer, even the day before, try to get over to Hendrix Center and get some Clemson Ice Cream ..... best ever!
Hope you have a great time and hopefully, if we can't convert you, the Tigers will be your second favorite team!

enjoy the game, just don't be obnoxious like Carolina fans are...
Lots of things to do pregame, the new Lot5 setup should make the Tiger walk a bit more fun.
Hope it's a night game, those are just electric.
I am sure there will be plenty of advice in this thread.
Where are you staying?

As a Nole fan, I can tell you the folks here - once they are convinced you ain't a troll - are very nice.
I went to a game last year, as a result of talking to a bunch of guys here on T-net.
I'm coming to another game this year, but not the FSU game. (Wake Forest for me.)
I'll be glad to give you some info and suggestions. T-mail me. I'd love to talk with you.
Where are you coming from? Day trip? Staying overnight?

Sorry it took so long to get back on this thread. We are coming from Tennessee and booked a hotel in Anderson SC for Friday and Saturday night. Were hoping that we can cancel one of the nights depending on what time the game is on the 23rd.
My son wants to bring a Football in hops of getting it signed by any player (he has a few that are his favorite right now but I couldn't tell you who they are). Do you think that he might be able to get any autographs or is this something that is really out of the question?

As for autographs: everyone is allowed on the field after the game. The players stick around to sing the Alma Mater and take pictures/sign autographs for the kids. It’s a unique tradition and your kid will love it.
