Jordan Leggett

Reflecting back on some of our games (some too close for comfort), but one constant throughout the year was the reliability of Jordan Leggett, especially in clutch situations when we had to have it. When we were down in the 4th QTR (Lville, FSU, Alabama), Leggett made a play. It also shows just how effective an athletic TE w/ good hands can be in this offense.

Jordan was the X Factor on offense. Besides Deshaun I think he was our Offensive MVP

The problem for me on Leggett, and I think most scouts agree, is that he never truly shook his self-admitted laziness. You can choose almost any game at random and see where the deficiencies are in his blocking mechanics. He also rarely plays through the whistle, unlike a Gallman or Hyatt. Go back and watch his highlight video from the 2015 FSU game alone and you are left baffled with his lack of effort on multiple plays. I know he has made some HUGE catches for us and I'm not taking away from that but at the next level, that laziness, especially where blocking is conceded, will be a big red flag for him. He is oftentimes out of position on blocks, doesn't have proper hand placement and/or gets beaten by the smaller man. Charone Peake and Wayne Gallman know how to stick a block, Leggett? Not so much.

In the SI's College Playoff Issue, a comment in the Opposing Coaches take stated Leggett "won't block anybody, but he can catch." As you intimated, the next level will require him to become a reliable blocker.

BJ certainly became an excellent LB for the Tigers and his pro team.

The QB counter that we ran against Ohio State worked so well because DW4 followed Legget and his blocking

He was big time all season, and runs remarkably well for a guy his size. Outside of DW4/MW7 he will be the player we miss most on offense next year. Maybe even more so than Williams - I think Cain will morph well into our primary boundary receiver.

After Watson and Williams, I think we miss Scott the most. He was our jack of all trades, and might be the best I've ever seen at finding holes in the wr screen. I can't count the number of times he should have been tackled for a loss, only to pop out and scamper for 8+ yards.....even in the national championship game, how did he hug the sideline??? And the return against Louisville might have saved our season. Such an awesome player, one of my faves.

The Miami screen was nice of his and also didn't he have a long catch and run his freshman year. I forgot what team it was against but I vaguely remember that.

I'll admit I got worried when he called himself "lazy"...

in that interview. If he characterizes his performance this year as lazy, I've got no problem with that all! Dude is a BALLER!
