Old heads remember K-Mart and their dominance?

And their bluelight specials. Then Walmart came along and knocked everyone out the game. Same thing with the transfer portal and NIL has strengthened lesser teams and improved northern teams like Michigan Indiana Penn State and weakened Clemson Bama and even Ugay to a extent. Every game is a struggle of course other factors coaching etc.

I have a saying written in my office. Adapt or become obsolete.

Clemson football is obsolete.

I always liked K-Mart. They built one about a half mile from our house in Cayce growing up around 1964. We could ride our bikes there and get almost anything.
I remember when I was about 4 years old hiding from my mom and sister in one of those pull out drawers in the clothing section. I fell asleep briefly, and when I got out the cops were there and everyone was looking for me.

I remember hiding from my grandma in the middle of the clothing racks. I went to the Kmart on Wade Hampton Blvd in Greenville every Friday night with my grandparents and another family from our church. We hit the Western Sizzlin across the road and then Kmart and the blue light specials 😆. Sometimes we even went to Roses!

Old? There were still K-Marts just a few years ago. You are right though, I remember going to the K-Mart in Greenville 55-60 years ago.

Yep. I was an Asst Manager at K-Mart for 3 years..if K-Mart had not changed their business plan, Walmart would have had very little impact on K-Mart.

Circuit City messed with success.

For one, they stopping selling appliances.

They did that DivX thing, which only lasted for about a year. DivX was like DVD except you had a special player for it that you bought from that store, and you rented a specific type of disc from there, and once you started playing it at home, you had a specific number of days that you could watch it. Then it no longer worked until you renewed it by calling a number or something.

Lastly, what I think started to really do Circuit City in was switching to hourly wage in the mid-2000's or so.

In Summer of 2006, I went to Circuit City one day to buy a new car stereo for my car. One of the associates there offered to get a new all-around high-end sound system installed for my car using credit.

Walmart has gotten pricey, Its no longer a given they are the best price. I can do better shopping the sales and BOGOs at Food Lion and Publix.
